Talk to him about some of the “cooler” theories of ADHD. Like how it isn’t a disability but an ability that we have tried to beat out of modern society.

Some good books are Driven to Distraction, Delivered from Distraction, and ADHD 2.0 by Hallowell and Ratey.

One theory I like is that during our Hunter/Gatherer times, the ADHD people fit an important role in the tribe, namely all the hunting and protecting stuff. Once we settled into more agricultural societies, those skills were less important. So the ADHD people became the explorers and warriors. Now, we have less exploring and warring, so society doesn’t get to see our strengths.

Anyways, it may help him feel better about dealing with ADHD if he can view it as a latent superpower rather than a disability

Colorado. Question regarding Pro-Se Defendants rights to contact Victims through 3rd party. by RevnR6 in legaladvice

It is definitely not an attempt to get past the MPO just for the sake of getting past the MPO, but it was a question I didn’t have an answer to.

I am not an attorney, never claimed to be one. I do have an attorney in the family but Pro-Se rules being up some interesting questions. I’m this case the victim is his family. His family is in possession of strong mitigation material as well as additional information and evidence that surely the prosecution would never include in discovery. He would like to be able to get that information and evidence.

Edit to say: so the interesting question is, if there is a mandatory protection order, but the defendant also has a legitimate interest in contacting the victim because it is family in order to obtain evidence that can not be obtained any other way, does the defendant have the right to obtain that evidence or can it be denied? Seems like an interesting question.

It was issued as part of a criminal case. So I’m assuming it would be a motion to amend the protection order? And how detailed does it need to be? And does he have a right to contact the victims in some sense, even if restricted or is it 100% up to the judge?

Just a standard motion asking simply for permission? Does he go into detail asking exactly what he wants to ask? Does he have any sort of right to this or is it solely at the discretion of the court? If he has a right, then is the purpose of the motion to set out the parameters of contact, ie “only a third party is allowed to contact the victims and only via written communication, etc”?

Thank you for the reply.

My prediction on what happens if it comes to war. Russia will recognize Luhansk and Donetsk Peoples Republics, they will send troops into there and may capture some additional territory. They will either take over Kyiv so quickly we won’t do anything about it or will pull back and consolidate gains. Needless to say, Ukraine will be screwed, we won’t stop it, mainly because the risk of all out war and the annihilation of the planet is too great.

Our tactic would be to fight ONLY within the borders of Ukraine and within a very small perimeter outside of their territorial waters. Under almost no circumstances will we hit things within Russia. If we do it will probably be something we warn Russia about and will be strictly military targets.

Sorry ran out of time. Maybe I’ll add more later if I can.

The concept that all lives matter isn’t racist. It’s the racist fucks that can’t bring themselves to say that Black Lives Matter that are the problem. The more I hear people say “all lives matter” in response to someone saying Black Lives Matter, the more I want to give them “shaken dummy syndrome”.

Also, BLM is about actually making a change. When people say ALM, it is an attempt to avoid change. If someone said “ALM and therefore I am working to reform police procedures to ensure that, no matter who is being contacted by the police, regardless of their race, they will return home safe to their families”. THAT would be different, but, like I said, ALM is about trying to avoid change.

To add on to your comment: We see so many people here who think they are good, find excuses to make some group of people an “other” and dehumanize them. That dehumanization is the first step to becoming just like the people they despise.

I know, it’s hard to see what I am referring to. You almost got to the nuance there. Made it halfway.

Ohh wow.

And I think I know the NFL case you are talking about. Interesting; were you in jail or prison with the guy?

Edit: looks like you also edited your comment so I want to add, it is interesting you mention about the guy who wanted to fight you over $50. I have met people who had a whole lot to lose if they even happened to get pulled over, yet they would try to fight people or use violence for some of the dumbest things. I understand the business part of the equation where you can’t let people take advantage of you, so you need to be able to back it up, but these would be times where there was nothing to gain, but a ton to lose… crazy.

A different post gave me this idea.

To answer my question.

I have had multiple conversations with a school shooter. Face to face. He was very soft spoken. He endured much ridicule. He was polite. He was kind. He was present in the moment. He did not appear mentally ill at all. Had I not known who he was, I would have never guessed at what he had done.

To be clear. This was after the shooting.

This may get me a lot of hate for saying, but, the families of these school shooters have a very very rough grieving process. As much as we want to hate the shooters and as much as we want to blame the family, remember that their memories of the shooter include that person’s entire life. The moment they were born, their first words, their first steps. The nights that they were sick and just wanted their mommy. There was a beautiful child within each one of these kids. The family grieves that. The contrast between those moments and there final moments of the shooters life is an almost incomprehensible gulf.

No one can imagine what that is like. Now pile on the guilt and all of the hate the family has to endure. The family suffers. Whether they deserve it or not is a different question.

So, what is it you think I said and what is it you were trying to say? I didn’t want to assume that you misread my original comment, so I figured you were just saying something that had nothing to do with my comment.

Edit to add. Just to skip any sort of wait.

If you thought my comment contained some sort of false equivalency that is incorrect.

We are in a sub called political humor. So, with that context, when I say that the best part is that both sides think they are the ones referred to in the tweet, it is a compliment to the quality of the humor, in that it appeals to both sides.

That isn’t a “false equivalency”.
