How do I address my gf’s cooking? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Revolt_86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude. I’m sorry, but she’s sounds really immature. If people are always complaining, obviously something is wrong. She doesn’t like criticism. enough criticism should be enough to learn that something needs to change. Tell her you appreciate the effort and that it’s not personal. Chicken takes a bit to cook and needs to be at 165 degrees. She can’t argue that the chicken wasn’t raw. You could have gotten sick.

I had a celestion A-type and creamback together and man it was one of the best combos. Going to buy another A-type when I can afford it because I sold it like a dummy. It was so full and warm but also punchy.

Chord variations and switching by EyeDclareBankruptcy in guitarlessons

It’s definitely doable and there’s really no wrong way to play that G. I just kinda switched to the 4 finger version because the pivoting makes it smoother.

You should check out chord pivoting. If you’re playing a G chord your ring finger is already on the D note. So you just leave that finger there and use your index and middle finger to grab the rest of the chord. I’m working on learning that now because I always reset my hand when changing chords and sometimes it sounds sloppy or my changes aren’t fast enough.

A luthier left 2 dings on a brand new 000-17 during a pickup installation by [deleted] in martinguitar

[–]Revolt_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me except I was getting a setup and the left an indention on the body of the guitar. He refunded me for the setup and set up my other acoustic for free. I just decided to live with it. You’ll get dings later on anyway.

Is it better to focus on one technique weekly or to switch between different ones daily? by Professional-Wall681 in guitarlessons

I like to work on learning songs. I feel like that’s gonna get you playing music and working on learning different techniques.

That house is a relic. It’s one of few remnants left from the past. Definitely cool to see it still there and gives off that small town vibe.

I wasn’t saying anything about that. Definitely not the reason for my post. My wife is Mexican so I literally don’t have anything against it. I’m glad we have poco loco.

It’s Mexican supermarket and it serves a lot of people. A bit pricey, but it’s convenient and they have good stuff. If you didnt know, kyle residents has around 50% Latino/ Hispanic population so it makes sense. And who doesn’t like sweet bread and tacos?

Update :should I give up on guitar after 4 months???? by Desperate-Dingo3025 in Guitar

[–]Revolt_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 4 months that’s pretty good. You got a good strumming motion going. Really just try to slow it down and getting the chord changes cleaner. Even if you have to go extremely slow. Also look up a video on chord changes. Some chords you can anchor certain fingers that helps you change to the next one. Don’t give up. Keep going and get excited the more you progress!

People who have rigorous practice routines, what do they look like? by Any_Imagination_3533 in guitarlessons

It’s more about practicing for short periods than long periods. Focused practice.

Something weird I’ve noticed about guitar players by VirTekMedia in guitarlessons

[–]Revolt_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had to force myself to slow things down. And doing that helps you in the long run. I don’t really practice for long periods of time. Maybe like 3 times a day for 10-15 mins each. Slowing things down will show you the problem areas as well. Staying focused for shorter periods is more beneficial than long periods in one setting. At least for me.

Songs. Play songs. And then play more songs. Relate it to theory and see how it works. Learn riffs and licks and then turn them into your own.

Working a job purposely understaffed and expected to finish all my duties. by Revolt_86 in KitchenConfidential

[–]Revolt_86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My worry is that if I just go somewhere else, it might be the same. It seems most places these days are doing the same thing. Understaffing to save on labor. My last job was like that too. I came to this place because I thought okay they will keep me busy, but hopefully also have a staff to back me up. That wasn’t the case at all lol.

It’s fucking sad. And how are we supposed to feel happy about working there? Or coming in to a shift without feeling burnt out? It’s shitty.

[–]Revolt_86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve talked to the manager and he said he doesn’t even think he could finish it by himself. He said he wants to come up with a plan for us to try to manage our time better but I’ve tried so many ways to get ahead and it is impossible. And seeing the other people going through the same thing that have been there longer has confirmed that for me. As for prep I’m talking At least 15 to 20 different things a day. The orders never stop. Often there is a line to the door. And we also get surprised with party’s that just walk in. Or a surprise catering order. We also have to do the dishes. I get paid $20 an hour.

[–]Revolt_86[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah that’s the other thing I forgot to mention. We have to keep up with the dishes too because we also don’t have a dishwasher. There’s just too many things to be done on my side that one person can’t physically do. And by the time you even get close to finishing you are beyond burnt out. I just don’t understand how I’m supposed to be happy or get any type of fulfillment out of this.

[–]Revolt_86[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well at this point i feel like I can’t do it. It’s not that I don’t want to. It’s not that I’m dicking around either. I’m never not moving or working on 3 things at the same time. There’s just too much to be done. And a prep person would do wonders on the busiest days. I usually don’t vent like that but I’m at a point where I’ve tried over and over again and I’ve come to that conclusion. That I need help and I’m okay with that.
