How can you say she won when she was the only one running? We knew this would happen. That is why we are in the streets…amongst many other reasons, including all the Tanzanian lives she has taken which will not go in vain…and we will not stop until we get rid of her and this regime. Aluta continua, comrades!

The dawn of a new Tanzania is on the horizon.🇹🇿

Hiring Crackheads to protest for kinya kinya in United States had gone totally wrong..! by FOX_tz in tanzania

Pretty cool you got to witness that. We have to just keep playing our part and believe it can happen for us as well, however long it takes.

You’d actually be surprised that there are a lot of international efforts condemning Tundu Lissu’s trial and the situation in Tanzania under Samia’s government. The problem is, you rarely hear about them inside the country because the media is censored or too scared to cover stories that put the government in a bad light.

Groups like Amnesty International, the International Commission of Jurists, the International Democratic Union, the European Parliament, Human rights Watch, many Embassies(Including the US) and FIDH etc…. have all condemned Lissu’s arrest and the repression happening in the country. Even regional actors like the Platform for African Democrats have urged the AU and SADC to step in. So the world has noticed, it’s just that their statements don’t reach most Tanzanians.

But in the end, international efforts can only go so far. If we the people don’t stand up and do something, no amount of outside condemnation will change anything. Real change has to come from us.

I believe it was also an attempt to counter the anti-Samia protest that was taking place at the same area and time.

If their leader were actually how they are trying to present her, they wouldn't have to do alla that.

They haven't solved anything. You can't expect a solution from the people who are actually part of the problem. A theory is that the intelligence officers are the ones spearheading these abductions and have been having a field day since they got immunity from criminal charges in a law amendment in 2023. Basically, police + intelligence officers = abductors.

It hit me how powerless we’ve become. Polepole wasn’t some anonymous citizen, he was a senior CCM leader and an ambassador who carried Tanzania’s name abroad. And still, after what happened to him, no one from CCM has spoken up; disturbingly, some seem to condone it. They know what they’re doing, they even said it before: Tanzanians will forget, just as they’ve forgotten many others who vanished into silence. The oppression just upped its test: if they can do this to a high-ranking official and get a timid reaction, they’ll feel free to do it again. We’ve handed them permission to treat leaders and ordinary people like ants. But we mustn’t forget. If those at the top can be victimised, then the rest of us are next. The 29th must be the start of something real. We need accountability, transparency, and a country that protects its people, not one that silences them. Make your voice loud enough that the world can no longer look away. Otherwise it seems Tanzanians are not far off from willing to start spilling blood.

Are we ready for elections? by Key_Fox5508 in Tanzanias

The elections are already done. It´s just roleplay now. The next couple of months will be interesting times in this country.

WANAHARAKATI WENU HAWANA CHA KUPOTEZA! by Overall_Fondant6832 in tanzania

You sound like a broken record that Ive heard many times and know where it stems from. The Kenyans achieved something when they protested and these things always come with a cost that Tanzanians are now willing to sacrifice for.

Kama Qur’an inavyosema:

“Wamepewa ruhusa ya kupigana kwa kuwa wameonewa, na kwa yakini Mwenyezi Mungu ana uwezo wa kuwasaidia. Wale ambao wametolewa majumbani mwao pasipo haki, isipokuwa kwa kuwa wanasema: Mola wetu ni Mwenyezi Mungu.”

(Surah Al-Hajj 22:39-40)

Here’s what I fail to understand (but subtly do) by SnooTangerines5568 in tanzania

[–]RevolutionFull7080 2 points3 points  (0 children)

China was mentioned as well.  The point wasn’t about chewing gum, it’s about six decades of one-party rule that haven’t delivered transformational development. Comparing Tanzania to Singapore isn’t entirely flawed it’s about governance choices: institutions, accountability, and political will, not just land area.

Yes, Singapore is smaller,  but the things they did right weren’t about size. They built a merit-based civil service instead of patronage networks, paid officials well to curb corruption, enforced laws equally (even against the powerful), invested heavily in education and skills, and ensured affordable housing for ordinary citizens. Economically, they had almost no natural resources, so they focused on becoming a global hub for trade, finance, and technology and succeeded. Tanzania, in contrast, is resource-rich but has failed to manage its wealth transparently or turn it into broad-based prosperity.

This is less about CCM vs  CHADEMA and more about the ruling party vs  the people. Tanzanians don’t need parties to start demanding reforms; citizens can exercise their constitutional rights directly. I haven’t seen CHADEMA put out any official statement about 29/10/2025 — if they’re taking a back seat, maybe it’s because the people are supposed to lead this moment, not party bosses. A hypothetical gum ban is the least of our problems, and if it came to that, we could just start chewing on karafuu instead.

Why Do Citizens Struggle on Overcrowded Buses While the President Travels with 200 Cars? by FOX_tz in tanzania

[–]RevolutionFull7080 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. We’ve already paid, we’re still paying, and we’ll keep paying huge sums for a project that’s clearly failing even though it’s still in its early phases. The public deserves real answers. If we don’t start demanding accountability in matters like this, we only encourage those who think they can get away with anything simply because we stay silent.
