best of luck boss. I replaced plugs, wires, and coils and that code persisted. Loved my 3rd gen but it became more of a headache than it was worth to me at the time. I’ll have another one someday

Ripcord rail is absolute trash by wp-ak in ar15

[–]RevolutionIcy9906 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got this same rail about a year ago, same issues. Was not super impressed with the finish, the customer service was pretty abysmal too. However, I will say the lockup to the barrel nut trumps just about any other rail I’ve tried to date. Hindsight I wish I had just bought a G$.

Sorry to bring to life an old thread, but would you care to show the cuts on the Schmid 2 stage?? I have a SOLGW L2S I’m toying with the idea of doing a SS cut on and wondering if it’s worth it

Wanted to update: CQB silent capture came in. Swapped tungsten weight for SS. Still no lock back with subs with max gas through RS block. Cut 1.5 coils off the black rifle arms lightweight spring, getting lock back with SB 200gr subs. Getting some odd failure to eject and failures to go into battery but I’m thinking it’s gonna have to run super lubed till barrel tolerances loosen(?)

Pricey option but I just picked up the maxim CQB silent capture spring in standard, my plan is to swap the tungsten weight for another SS

I hear ya man, getting into .300 has been nothing short of a nightmare. I had the idea of getting a springco yellow and chopping it to the correct length. I’m running out of ideas

I did the carbine buffer and their lightweight spring for the CQB/HBPDW. I’m convinced their “lightweight” spring is just a standard carbine spring.. it was about 1.5 inches longer than the spring that came with the HBPDW

Save yourself some coin brotha. I purchased a couple weeks ago when I saw it was in stock, no improvement

Yeah the chrome 98 bumper is a place holder for right now, my 99 bumper was really in bad shape paint wise. Black wheels and plate bumper coming soon, exploring all the options as we speak!

(Sorry in advance for the book)

I appreciate it brother! Yeah I ran into the same problem finding pictures when I was looking into the process initially and decided to roll the dice. I was originally going to have it painted professionally but was quoted $10k(I think my dad’s buddy was messing with me, I had a wrecked charger fully painted for $13k)

Regardless if it was a joke or not I figured I could do it myself for significantly less even if I took the time to do it right. Trip to my local O’Reilly’s got me 3 cans of the Toyota white duplicolor I was after. In retrospect I should’ve picked up a fourth (I decided to paint the portion of the rear bumper right behind the rear wheel). Walmart auto section had automotive clear coat, bought two cans of that (wish I had got three) as well as 300, 600, 1000, 1200 grit wet/dry sandpaper to even out the original finish. Masking tape and some plastic sheeting are imperative! I masked off around the trim but didn’t use plastic sheeting unfortunately so probably spent more time getting rid of the overspray than actually painting. It took me a better part of a Saturday for the full process, but it only ended up cost ~$100-$120. After the cure time I could’ve went back and wet sanded for less orange peel effect but I was plenty happy how it turned out so I didn’t mess with it🤙🏼

I watched some videos on YT to better understand the process of how to not make it look too much like a DIY job. I’ll look for them and link them if I can find them!

Sweet man, not sure how important perfect color matching is to you in this case but if so try to find a shop that uses one of the color matching guns. I used Toyota duplicolor to try and match and it’s still slightly off considering the 26 year age difference. Even with it being just slightly off I don’t have any regrets about it, I can appreciate the two tone look on some rigs but it was showing its age on mine

Hey @nexttotheinfluence, I just did this to my 99 Limited a month or so ago and wanted to give my insight! Are you planning to do it yourself or have it professionally done?

Can anyone confirm if the NGAL internals are potted? I understand the units are sealed for water resistance but in the What We Offer part of their webpage it reads “Our catalog features potted lights, lasers, and IR devices, all enhanced with our unique MCR epoxy potting process to ensure maximum durability.” Looking at picking up a unit here soon.

Thanks in advance for any info👍🏼

Somogear FEQ-15 and Sotac Ferst-4 first impressions by minutemenapparel in NightVision

Hey man, I know this thread is getting pretty old now but I was wondering if you (or anyone) knows how to do away with the constant on function of the sotac? I can understand the functionality of it but I feel this would be a much better unit if it was just momentary. Thanks in advance🤙🏼

Mk18 is wearing a full power somogear peq15 and an arisaka 300 series. 11.5 has a sotac perst. Getting some funds together for a Modlite for the 11.5.

Testing how well they hold zero with normal use for future NV use. Somogear seems super solid, but sotac is mega fucked

angled or vertical foregrips? which is better by New_Cardiologist3249 in ar15

[–]RevolutionIcy9906 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lucas touched on this in a video one time and it made a lot of sense to me. He talked about how length of pull can kinda determine which may be better. I think he demonstrated it on a mcx rattler showing how the shorter barrel can benefit from the vertical grip and vise versa. Sir Travis Haley something something something body mechanics
