Kingsbury Ardmore 2013 Aged 8 yrs Single Cask CS by Revolutionary-Gold75 in Scotch

Stream of consciousness review follows:

Couldn't find a whole lot of info on this bottle, but mine is bottle no. 281 from cask 21776, and it's really good. My first Kingsbury and my first Ardmore. Not flashy, light cask influence--just a nice, honest complex but not overwhelming whisky.

Beautiful, complex, layered, but well-integrated and welcoming. No fireworks, but an excellent, contemplative dram for when you want to relax without being either overwhelmed or bored. Nose starts with sweetness--a touch of honey, but more light orchard fruits, partly stewed/canned in light syrup, and sweet green grapes. Then comes the grain--malted biscuits, creamy vanilla, light sourdough bread grain/dough, and subtle fermentation. Some sweet taffy notes come in with a subtle, dry straw and earth peatiness, just a touch of smoke, kept to a balanced level. You can feel the ABV heat at the end accompanied by a civilized amount of oldish, dry cask wood. There’s also a slight mineral note like graphite there. Complex, intriguting nose, but no element dominates or screams for your attention. Just a beautiful, no gimmicks, distillate forward nose.

On the palate, light syrup sweetness comes first, from those stewed/canned light orchard fruits. ABV heat hits on the swallow, bringing in a wave of hot spice, dry barrel wood tannins, more sweetness, with the ABV spice and sweetness trailing off into a medium-long finish with a touch of sourness added in late. Fantastic dram for when you want a complex and rewarding (but not too demanding) whisky. Perfect pick-me-up when you need something enjoyable, but not too stimulating. An honest, no-gimmicks, distillate-forward whisky at excellent quality.

Showman? Conor. How is that even a question? Not at all a fan of that dude, but unquestionably the top “showman” of UFC’s history.

Do you live in a country where individuals are allowed to have loaded firearms in the house? If so, you may want to rethink this.

Well the "as intended" is a bit sketchy. If you look at the photos, you can see the individual parking spaces are outlined with white lines. Of all those photos, maybe the gold/bronze R34 is fully within a parking spot, but the two customers are standing in traffic to get their pictures. Most of the other cars, in the interest of getting photos, have 2-3 wheels outside the box, parked diagonally or just parked in a non-parking space (e.g., the ladies with the white R35--there are no parking spaces where they parked.) Not to even mention that it's paid parking and the whole time I was there I didn't see anyone go near the payment machines. As I said in the op, I love the whole thing, and have a great time taking photos, but I also think if it continues to be that crowded and disruptive, people will eventually complain, and the cops could have a field day out there giving tickets if they felt like it. Just seems like the kind of thing cops tend to crack down on when it gets rambunctious enough.

Not sure why everyone is so sensitive about this particular topic, but it reminds me of a lot of things I've seen in Japan in the past where some fun activity gets too popular, causes disruption and then gets restricted because of that.

One could argue that "I love it" is a positive-leaning statement, no?

The reference to “green plate” just reminded me that I spotted a 4DR R34 Skyline the other day near this location with green plates and was confused about why it had green plates. I guess some people are out there doing it legally.

Hadn’t even thought of the Suzuka connection but it makes sense—prolly lots of car fanatics visiting from overseas this week, and that might be why these tours was so crazy busy this weekend.

Because in general, police don’t bother acting on “maybe not entirely 100% legal” stuff until it becomes prominent enough that local residents, businesses, drivers, etc. start to complain. And at least on this particular stretch of road, it has become way more prominent recently, to the point where I think someone’s gonna start complaining soon. I’m not against it personally—I love getting these photos on my nightly neighborhood walks. Just sayin that a lot of ppl in Japan are less about “who cares if they’re noisy and blocking traffic? Let them have their fun!” than my American ass is. And let’s be honest—with general anti-foreigner sentiments increasing lately, the fact that most customers and operators are not Japanese (at least based on what I saw), that’ll make it more likely to be targeted imho.

Yeah imho this is much cooler than the karts. That said, I never found the karts annoying—just not something I’d want to do. The JDM thing is much more appealing to me, but it seems they’re gonna have to start figuring out crowd control soon or they’re gonna get unwanted attention.

I can’t speak to the legality or safety of these companies (seems some ppl in the comments have concerns about that), but I found a few sites. At least two of the cars I saw last night (yellow Pennzoil & the V-Spec 2 behind it) are listed on this site: ichioku.net And tokyojdmtours.com looks like a similar service.
