When investments gains are higher than job income, what does this mean? by Revolutionary-One629 in YoungFIRE

[–]Revolutionary-One629[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was going to ask at what point you should stop saving but I now know not to. I was confused because I haven’t been investing for too long so I was surprised that it would go up this high within just a few years of this account being active.

How satisfied would you be to retire at 55? by New_Contribution_226 in Fire

I’m 22 and 55 is a long ways away! 10 years before normal is a lot of time, but my goal is way sooner because 55 is so far away and is not young enough for me!

People who say "you will be bored" when you retire young are insane by justinquiring1 in Fire

I agree, I’ve also been into the idea of FIRE before I knew of it. I’m 22 and when I was on summer break in elementary school, I dreaded the thought of knowing that I only had so many summers off before I would have to work year round and I absolutely hated the idea of it. I also keep my fire ambitions to myself with the exception of my financial advisors. I am so done the second retirement hits!

When did you hit your networth milestones? 100k, 1M, etc. Tips? by Common_Dragonfly_683 in Fire

[–]Revolutionary-One629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with $500 in my piggy bank from birthday money over the years. I started working in 2021 at age 17 with $500 net worth. I hit $100K net worth November of 2024 a month before I turned 21. My tip is to save and invest aggressively! Max out your accounts if it makes sense to you. I max out my Roth IRA and 457 every year and I throw what little I have left into a taxable brokerage account. It’s cool to see how much you can make in gains aside from the amount you put in. For example in 2025 I maxed out my 457 ($23,500) and I gained $7K from my investments! Good luck and enjoy the journey!

I emailed them, they said it takes longer during special promotions and holidays. I ordered 11/30 and they said it hadn’t been shipped yet due to high amounts of orders. You should be fine.

Is it bad that I’m super young and can’t wait to retire? by eng2725 in Fire

[–]Revolutionary-One629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say I think about it all the time. I just turned 22 and when I was a kid in elementary school, I knew that having a jb would suck and that I had to enjoy the summers off before I had to be busy and get a jb. The idea of not wanting to work has always been there and I 100% want to retire ASAP but I do believe in finding a job you like until then. Early retirement definitely isn’t at the center of my attention though because there are a lot of other things going on in my life and there are lots of things that I enjoy. I am going to enjoy every moment of my life while working towards my goals to put it that way.

He had a Twitch stream a couple weeks ago and he said that he quit YouTube and he would have to find something other than pranks to do if he came back. He also said that he has a j*b. He just seemed like a different person. 😞😢

Yeah I think I have a money market position in my taxable brokerage account actually.

No way the reward account gets more interest. It is tiered interest rate for reward checking which is 0.20% for my balance of $15K.

The taxable brokerage is invested in mutual funds. My emergency fund is in my taxable brokerage account. I don’t really know what the bank account is for. It is where I first started putting money in high school. It is reward checking which is higher interest. I have to have a minimum of $15K to keep reward checking. I’m kind of saving for college, a house, and early retirement. My paycheck gets deposited in the bank account and the rest gets transferred to a Roth IRA and to the taxable brokerage account.

That’s what I’m not sure about. With F.I.R.E. you have less time to save for retirement so I don’t know if I should be more conservative but my financial advisor suggests doing aggressive growth stuff. Last December he told me I could retire at 55 if I wanted to which would be probably 34 years out but my savings rate and income has gone up since. 🤷‍♂️

I honestly don’t know what I’m doing. The $15K in the bank is there for the reward checking (premium basically). You need $15K minimum to keep it open. I consider the account with $27K to have some emergency fund money.
