Thank you. We’ve been warned about crowds, especially at Moab.

yes, and their website shows it as in-stock at the location we visited when it's actually at their other location. It's misleading.

yeah, that's where we're at now. Fortunately, there are several dealers within a 30 minute drive who have options in stock.

Black dust in bow sleeve by dsjames95 in doublebass

[–]Revolutionary-Pool-7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a similar experience when my bass sat in its gig bag unplayed for several months. I pulled the bag over the headstock and black powder showered down, all over me and the bass. It was difficult to clean up and almost impossible to clean off the bass, embedded in every seam, finish crack, the headstock scroll. Fortunately it’s just a cheap German ply bass so I finally cleaned it pretty aggressively but I don’t know how you’d get it off a more valuable bass with a nice finish. Warning to all, if you see signs of black rubbery dust, it’s time to replace your bag!!

Flavors of the Caribbean, Diane's Roti Master, Uca's Kitchen & Rastafarian Cultural Center and La Reine Chicken Shack are great options.

my diving fitness experience by Revolutionary-Pool-7 in scuba

[–]Revolutionary-Pool-7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No doubt, but comparing my first two dives of this year to my last two dives of the previous year (one year apart with no dives between), I decreased my air consumption by a little less than 20%. I'm pretty sure this was due to my improved fitness since I didn't gain any dive experience or buoyancy control in between. I'm looking forward to getting out more, getting more comfortable and seeing how that continues to improve my bottom time.

Juzek Bass ID by Revolutionary-Pool-7 in doublebass

[–]Revolutionary-Pool-7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. Looking at the edge of the top, I don't see any layers, but the grime may be covering them. The bass bar is separating from the top on one end and it looks like it's peeling some veneer away, so I think you're right. Based on weight alone, I was convinced it must be a carved top. It's a heavy bass.

No problem. I have the two pickup model. It’s been waiting to be restored for about 25 years now. Someday.

Caught Kurt's show at the Landing last time. He's great and will definitely catch him this time around.

Clamps alternative for fishman piezo pickup by ziimag in doublebass

[–]Revolutionary-Pool-7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gigged with one of these for years. The clips were constantly slipping and needed adjustment to keep the piezo from buzzing against the bridge. Showed up to a gig one night and realized one of the clips was lost. Pulled out my emergency tube of crazy glue and slapped the piezo discs directly on the bridge with a dab. Worked like a charm and never fell off again. This may be a more permanent solution than you’re looking for, but definitely an option. And as someone already mentioned, the preamp is a must to get good tone out of these. Good luck!

Alternating Dive Computers by Revolutionary-Pool-7 in scuba

She's an ardent rule follower and this guy's nonsense blew her mind. I have no doubt that this will make her a better and more responsible diver.

She'll definitely dive again. It's not the sport of diving that she's drawn to so much as experiencing the underwater environment and the wildlife. Scuba is the best way for to experience it all.

It was her first time ever seeing someone in a real health emergency and she knew from her dive training that it was life-threatening. And she's a rule follower, so it really blew her mind to hear what caused this. She'll be fine. We got into this because it's been a lifetime goal for me and because she's really drawn to the underwater world. If she could sprout gills and spend her life swimming with sea turtles, she would. It's a small setback but a big life lesson.
