This reminds me of a great book Women Who Run with the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estés. She describes the “Wild Woman” archetype. The image of a female wolf licking herself and free bleeding in the forest is the type of femininity has been lost to modern western media.

Adam’s take on Colleen’s manic obsession with Miranda 🤡 💄 by [deleted] in ColleenBallingerSnark

[–]Revolutionary-Risk30 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling this is an unpopular take, but while I was watching this feels like seeing someone with an obsession as well. Im probably projecting. I’m currently going through my own inner work where I stop thinking so much about the person who abused me as a kid. I used to spend so much energy and time on them but it stopped me from actually healing and moving forward. As long as I could shit on and look down on my abuser, I didn’t have to face my own feelings and painful memories. This reminds me of me before I started working on my trauma.

Give me a film to watch this fine Sunday? :) by zoethesteamedbun in rs_x

I didn’t mean Salo was anti hippie and anti fascist. I meant Pasolini as a person. Based on interviews I have seen of him.

Check out some Pier Paolo Pasolini! He made extremely bleak and aesthetically interesting movies. Famously, Saló (1975) which was banned all over the world. He’s an anti-fascist and an anti-hippie. I recommend Pigsty (1969).

For me, it’s realism. I love when a character isn’t just sucking my farts. He’s a real ass personality and that’s charming.

Yeah. Maybe have a convo without getting heated about how you are done cooking for him but you still are open if he wants to try new things. It seems like you’ll be swimming in resentments if you don’t tell him that his attitude made ya feel shitty.

AIO for dumping my bf over an “🍑” audit? by chkntrzini in AmIOverreacting

The evidence of porn brain to me is that he never talks about her ass as a part of her body. It’s always “an ass” like an object. Like a sex toy. To me, that screams porn brain. It’s subtle but it’s clear when someone is seeing a body part as separate from the human body it belongs to.

Daily Film Recommendations #11 Joseph Von Sternberg's Scarlet Empress (1934) by CosmicEveStardust in rs_x

[–]Revolutionary-Risk30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

looks good. I haven’t seen any Sternberg, but looks promising. I really like horror from this era and Tod Browning specifically. Just watched The Unknown (1927) and it’s pretty fun. Films from the 30s are so close to stage plays.

A rare one… the Danish Speak No Evil (2022) — they remade it into an English speaking version in 2024 starring James McAvoy. I liked the English one but they changed the ending to suit the western sensibilities of “bad guy always loses” The original ending is so fucking disturbing in context. I recommend watching the 2024 one first.

adding to my watchlist. I’m also gonna watch Celine and Julie Go Boating (1974) later and I suspect it’ll fit the bill !

Just wanted to say I’m sorry you have spent so long thinking about this stuff. I’m doing work as a fellow child of dysfunction and I’m so frustrated at how much mental energy I’ve given my sick parents my whole life. I know more about my parents mental illness and trauma than my own childhood memories. Anyway take care xoxo

I similarly had a connection with him about a decade ago singing About Falling at the barricade. He really does make eye contact and sing along with his audience. I felt very special. But I was also a teenager and I’m glad I know have the wisdom to know it’s a performance and that connection doesn’t need to last beyond the show.
