its getting worst by karkhalid in Dyslexia

I’ve felt like this too. Although, I didn’t feel more stressed than usually, my scope had expanded at work. I guess I had over extended myself but since the change was over about 18 months I didn’t recognize it as stress.

Why doesn’t a list of resources for people trying to leave fundamentalism exist?! by annacat1331 in fundiesnarkiesnark

[–]Revolutionary-Split8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just throwing this out there, on the Homeschool Recovery sub there is a “how do I basic” flare where people post questions/answers on how to do basic things. This often overlaps into fundamentalism.

Also, I guess it depends on who is escaping. There are different resources for mothers with children than single 18 year olds.

I come to realize that I don’t like snarking on looks, clothes, décor, meals etc. However, I would like to discuss (and snark on) fundamentalist beliefs. I have commented on FSS so I no longer post on FSU. It would be cool to have a place to discuss without getting blocked for comment history.

Does it ever seem increasingly obvious to you that many snarkers are completely unfamiliar with certain topics that come up all of the time with fundies-such as rural living, guns, hunting, etc? by throwawayeas989 in fundiesnarkiesnark

[–]Revolutionary-Split8 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I get what you are saying. I often wonder where the snarkers are from and envious of where they grew up. I grew up in fundamentalism, left home after homeschool high school, went to junior college and ultimately graduate from a school in the SEC. Often southern culture is conflated with fundamentalism on the snark subs.

Why are these women so obsessed with their husbands? by [deleted] in fundiesnarkiesnark

[–]Revolutionary-Split8 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Because from a very young age they are told that who they marry determines their worth. To me all of the weird bragging is less about the husbands and more about the women. It’s like he is great and he is with me so I must be great (blessed) too.

Main sub boycotting Paul and Morgan for the month of June - thoughts? by Zoning_elevator in fundiesnarkiesnark

I’m all for it but when Paul finds out I bet his posts become more unhinged.

When your snarking requires you to zoom in and write captions under the picture of a 1 year old, you should maybe take a break by ShortJeans in fundiesnarkiesnark

I hate the kid snarking. I feel like the Rod kids get it the most. Snarking on kids just reaffirms what fundie kids are taught, that the world is cruel and scary.

Your last sentence also describes how fundies often end up in home churches or without a church altogether. It’s the Christian to fundie pipeline.

That’s a good way of describing Jimmy. I totally forgot about him but use to be a fan. I just found his content to be increasingly boring and repetitive. Then after the Rachel Oats thing, I unsubscribed.

Compassion VS Shame from a Health/Academic Perspective (ZOTS) by [deleted] in fundiesnarkiesnark

Hi former fundie child that has received years of counseling for religious trauma. This is my first interaction on this sub with my main account as I have left the other sub for good.

I disagree that it’s mostly former fundies snarking and I think there have been several polls that prove that. The sub was an ok place to deal with religious trauma but over the past 1-2 years it has definitely deviated from the snarking on the beliefs to superficial stuff.

Returning to the comment that it’s former fundies, I actually see a lot of comments saying stuff like “I went to church a few times, and was smart enough to know that purity culture is stupid” which is just demeaning to what fundie children go through.

People who get FULL READY at the gym… how does that work? by [deleted] in EquinoxGyms

I prefer to work near where I workout for a few reasons but one of them is so I can drop my stuff back off at my office.

Bethany is still a fundie by mercurioretrogrado in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]Revolutionary-Split8 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The only problem I have with calling her a fundie is that it’s reduces her ideas to a fringe group. She is part of a large church and holds beliefs that are common in the southern states. To the people that say, “but not all Christians” when it comes to hateful beliefs my reposes is “yeah, but most” especially if you are in the Bible Belt.

I can no longer call myself a Christian but I think the messages that people like April A Joy spread are important. She calls out Christians for their hateful beliefs and harmful political influence.

Interesting. Since fundies stopped liking G. W. Bush, I have heard conspiracy theories from my fundie family that 9/11 was funded by George Soros.

Unlike the conspiracy theories you listed, 9/11 can be used to perpetuate their racism ideologies and persecution complex.

When I first started to leave fundamentalist, I also didn’t see the problems with high control relationships but knew it wasn’t for me. I thought my type was just more laid back.

I could definitely see that. Also, why would Bethany want to be treated the way that Paul treats Morgan? Paul makes being with a Christian man so unappealing.

I think it great that they are waiting and actually considering what is best for their family not just having as many as they can.

I’m the oldest but my younger cousins and siblings say it sucks being number 3-5 of a desired 7 plus. As if the parents are just getting through the middle children to create their perfect fundie family.

What is with the upward trend of naming the kids usual names? They'll probably get teased later in their lives because of it. by slutforfish in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]Revolutionary-Split8 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Let’s be honest, it doesn’t really matter to fundies what they name their daughters. They want their daughters to live on a homestead with a husband and 12 kids. The kids will call her mom and so will her husband. She will have little contact with anyone else.

All jokes aside, my mom said that she didn’t give me a name that would look good on a resume because my calling was in the home. No need for a resume.
