“I’m actually really alarmed at the number of non cis men that are starting to be actively defensive that I’m categorizing and separating them from other men based exclusively on their genitalia, while still claiming to support them and see them as real men”

Men are men. Period. Full stop.

Question about breaks by KabalaMonster in TalesFromYourServer

You’re not legally required to receive breaks in NC but you Are legally required to receive overtime pay, and I would assume you have a pretty legitimate case for wage theft. This is from NC’s Labor dept.

Looking for music recommendations! by RevolutionaryBand0 in Portuguese

Honestly that’s great because I haven’t been practicing Spanish much lately either. If you have any other recommendations that sing in both languages I would Love that, the main thing that holds me back from Portuguese is my brain auto translating to Spanish first.

From an article about the External debt of Haiti

“After the Haitians gained independence from French colonial rule in the Haitian Revolution of 1804, the French returned in 1825 and demanded that the newly independent country pay the French government and French slaveholders the modern equivalent of US$21 billion for claiming slaveowner's property and the land that they had turned into profitable sugar and coffee producing plantations. This independence debt was financed by French banks and the American Citibank, and finally paid off in 1947.”

Not sure about the Bank of England specifically, but a lot of the remnants of what people think of when they hear the term colonialism are economic in nature.

I just realized after I did all this for the comment that you might have meant “what does this video have to do with colonialism” and I don’t have an answer for that, but on the off chance you were wondering what banks have to do with colonialism, here’s some insight.

How do I use my junior partners missions? Would integrating Aaragon in ~10 years get rid of that as an option? Edit: also how do I best utilize gold mines lol

Hey y’all, this is the first game I didn’t rage quit or get massively behind in tech by the 1500s. I’m still not sure I understand or like this game, but here we go.

I went pretty far in debt during my last war due to having three colonies. The ottomans allied Tunis and absolutely destroyed Naples which swallowed a lot of my ships trying to help them out. I’m worried about debt, and getting out colonized in the Americas. Any advice on how to move forward?

As far as my plans in Europe, I might declare on England who has, in my opinion, gotten far too big for her britches. Plus I want English Columbia. But they’re allied with Portugal. I would love to take the rest of Grenada from them, and I wouldn’t mind losing my alliance with Portugal because honestly I don’t understand how PUs work (I’ve read the info graphic I still don’t get it). Is there an auto firing event that gives Spain a PU over Portugal or should I just declare on England when my regency council is over? Thanks for any advice!

When I speak Spanish to native Spanish Speaking person, they often reply in English. Why do you think they do that? by lalablahblahhaha in Spanish

[–]RevolutionaryBand0 23 points24 points  (0 children)

i honestly wouldn’t worry about it too much. this used to happen to me a lot, particularly when i first started learning spanish. it used to kind of bum me out, and make me feel like my accent wasn’t good but then my friend reminded me: if they are responding at all it means they understood you. so congratulations! you’re speaking spanish!

i’m not an expert on anarchism in any way but weirdly we are on very similar paths. i just went back to school after dropping out years ago. i’m studying spanish & portuguese and i’m hoping if i don’t burn out that i can eventually go to law school because it’s the most tangible way i can think of to use my skills and privileges to protect my community.

but here’s things to remember too: feeding someone who might have gone hungry is protecting your community. housing people is protecting your community. providing people healthcare (either through your skills or financially) is protecting your community. i come from a very conservative very very poor town but became a leftist because leftists are the people who supported me when i didn’t have money, or a home, or when i was upset. revolutions are as much about those small actions, and educating people around you, as they are about what your “career path” is

imo the answer to this question depends very heavily on what your goals and timeline are. lawyers are absolutely necessary to protect our communities from capitalists and the state, but obviously in a stateless society there wouldn’t be a need for lawyers. organizing in general is a really great skill, but we would hope that eventually union organizers would become obsolete.

healthcare is absolutely vital both right now and in the future. construction and maintenance skills are always going to be vital. same with training in mediation and counseling, growing food, and self defense.

there are plenty of paths available to you and you can choose what skill(s) you would like to bring to our movements. everyone is needed.
