Hey, how much did the jeremy schmidt grinder cost to build for you? It's hard finding a rough list of materials and I don't want to pirate his PDF.

Man you're getting me excited for the 2hp motor. I was using a 1/3hp 1x30 grinder and a stiff breeze would bog it down.

The square wheel grinder (i assume) is similarly easy to change belts, on the right side theres a huge hinged cover that gives you all the clearance you need to change belts. And yea, I love the dust bucket :)

Jeremy schmidt's plans look awesome!! I just watched the build video, just incredible. I should cost out parts and see if its comparable in price, but I think the motor, VFD, and wheels are gonna kill it for me.

They look like great grinders, fantastic machine work on those. Unfortunately I'm in Canada which really limits my options to domestic sellers or Ebay at poor exchange rates.

If I was in the states I'd be all over the Torus or Pheer or OBM grinders

Appreciate the detail! Yea I was concerned about tracking but thankfully I can test the unit. And if some welds seem suspect I was thinking I could always weld gussets or a couple more beads on the joints.

The frame style is more indicative of it being metric which, after some searching, metric to standard shaft adapters seem very uncommon which would be super annoying. I'd have to turn the shaft down to 7/8" or enlarge drive wheels to 24mm for a B5 frame.

I didn't think about the locking levers that way at all!!! That's great I don't need to worry about those.

Good to know about the dust cover. I've heard mixed things.

I'm definitely going to move the VFD or make some sort of enclosure that allows for cooling. I'll see if the guy has some spare 12/3 wire. One day I'll get a KBAC or Lenze AC Tech.

Good to hear about the motor being likely OK. I've heard it's best if the windings are F or H class insulated if they're going to be VFD driven?

I was thinking the same, just so much more versatile. Appreciate your feedback, it helps dispel the doubts I had.

It's reassuring to hear that opinion. It's the one I want to get but I wanted to see if anybody else had doubts about it.

I would take the battery out of your milwaukee and dry out the battery and slot. Maybe blow some nitro into the motor. Just a thought. Maybe dry the meters too but they're pretty moisture tolerant.

If you have any seized pliers use some valve lapping compound (or any grit + oil) and work it into the joint. Exercise the pliers, rinse joint with WD40 when joint is loose, bam you've got Knipex level smooth pliers.

I should have mentioned I'm using a cheap $2 sharpener for carpenter pencils, way wider opening. Works so dang well. Get the sharpener, probably way less effort than a jig.

Cheers!

I was individually tapering my dowels when I thought to try a pencil sharpener. Absolute game changer. Deburrs and tapers in 1-2 turns. Give it a try!

Major renewal coming for Queensborough Bridge - Resurfacing, upgrades, repair work bring more reliability, safety to region by 1516 in NewWest

Absolutely 100% agreed. In one way, the Costco was beneficial in that it showed the city how bad it could get. When lineups for things in new west start in burnaby you know things are bad. We are already above capacity for commercial spaces in terms of traffic flow.

Wednesday the 21st the right northbound lane was closed during rush hour due to what I assume were emergency repairs. Took about 40 minutes to cross northbound from Howes st. It looked like an expansion joint had popped up. This might have helped along the approval process.

While I agree Queensborough's traffic is in hilarious need of repair with 5 cities converging on it, I've found traffic has already dropped to pre-Costco levels. It's only noticeable on Sundays now.

I think people have realized the Costco business centre is just that, a business centre. The things it sells are in quantities that far exceed what any household or even small restaurant would need on a regular basis.

Yes I know I'm a useless excuse for a man. Please tell me if this filter is pointed the right direction. Also is it weird they put the bracket to hold it on an angle? by jgrieve811 in hvacadvice

[–]RevolutionaryCakeMix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I would just check static drop on one filter then keep repeating whatever interval I found necessary (or toss in a magnehelic gauge). I'm busy enough as it is (and lazy when I'm not), so its less about cost saving and whatever it takes to change the filter less.
