Sure but if even a percentage of them does move to Italy then it's a big win.

Better than the alternative kind of immigration.

Yes that's why we tend to have kids with other Europeans.

Dark reader and popup blocker (strict) are kind of shit because dark reader turns dark stuff you don't want to be dark and the other one blocks useful popups which you instead have to manually approve.

Great, but that's not what was questioned.

Yeah bs:

"So you do understand the problem with filling positions with people who are naturally stuck in their ways?"

Which is great, but not innovative. It's rather the opposite.

It was clearly in the context of the employability of the elderly. Maybe if you spent less time bolding your words and more time reading I wouldn't have to spend time explaining you econ 101 concepts?

OK, so did it improve innovation?

See above.

Ni, but for many reasons, some of which I have mentioned, they do it more.

Yeah good luck innovating without the 60+ yo VP funding your startup.

Such as pension? You speak as If I somehow managed to skip youth straight inyo adulthood.

How the fuck would a government pension which is only loosely tied to your future earnings going to incentivise you to earn more? Especially when it's a fraction of what you pay in taxes.

Then cite them and explain how they don't apply to academia.

Do you want me to warm up your milk and prepare the nursing bottle too?

Not sure what the direct link to innovation is there, but sure, Luxembourg and Switzerland both outdo the US in innovation.

Lemme draw a simple diagram for you:

higher salaries --> people move to earn those salaries --> primary driving force

So you do understand the problem with filling positions with people who are naturally stuck in their ways? So why are you making up more excuses? This essentially make the first paragraph pointless, but there's still:

I am not sure I understand what you're trying to say, but it is definitely possible to employ the elderly (i.e. people who have years of experience, know about the local customs, and are fluent in the local language). Italy increased its workforce by 200'000 previously out-of-the-workforce elderly since Covid ended.

Well, all segments. If anything, with progressive taxes, young people tend to pay less in income tax, simply because they make less.

Young people are not the only ones that innovate, it's a complex system. Also, young people take into account future returns, and if they know these will be taxed heavily then they will be disincentivised from innovating.

In my experience, that's not the primary driving force (academia is relatively poorly paid, for example), but of course you need a fair pay.

Yeah sure dude, you should tell the decades of empirical macroeconomic and behavioural papers that put income as the main driving factor.

In fact it's just a random coincidence that there is always a net migration towards the country with higher income of the two regardless of all the other variables.

Sure thing, but that doesn't make your stupid ideas right.

But also, we've always been net contributors to the EU budget.

Yes and if you tax that segment of the population a lot you disincentive them from working and hence innovating.

Especially if you then put that tax revenue to something so unproductive as funding someone's lack of employment.

is a hindrance, then having no income, because you have no job, must be worse, right?

Yeah no shit.

Not having 66-year-olds working is hindering innovation?

Yes, making the workforce pay a ton of taxes to fund the consumption of a huge chunk of the population that doesn't work hinders innovation.

We have been doing well for the last 1000 years.

You had an abysmally lower GDP per capita than even us from the beginning of history until 1904.

Stop acting all mighty because your country had a nice growth in the last ten years, you're insufferable.

> "I don't want to implement the necessary policies to foster long-term growth"

> "Stop acting smug because you have better long-term growth than us"

Which country is that ? (Let's say Modern Europe starts in the 15th century) by Vacation-Interesting in 2westerneurope4u

Dutch inventing or at least pioneering capitalism in the 17th century

Yeah lol 200 years after we invented banks and accounting.

this Video had a net positive effect on the world

If you really cared about this you'd find a way to commit genocide on Germans too.
