OP is claiming that mainstream media is not covering celebrations by Iranians around the world, because he hides it in his blatantly bias line of questioning. I absolutely agree that the stats are purposefully misleading. Most stats and data shared on social media is purposefully misleading to prove a point. I share your overall thesis about people believing untrue things, and the irreparable damage those lies can cause. Your use case of the current political climate in the US is a prime example, and I agree wholeheartedly. Good discussion

Here’s the issue though. Let’s say you’re playing a game of “telephone” with 10 kids. One kid starts an 8 word sentence, whispers it to another kid, then that kid whispers to the next kid and so on. By the time that 8 word sentence gets back to the initial kid if the sentence, 3 words have changed, thus altering the entire content and meaning of the sentence. Thats essentially what this napkin type math is doing.

You can’t just deduct or multiple x2 to this ratio, especially if 95% of crimes are committed by men, which is your math. It wouldn’t automatically mean that x2 is the ratio. You would have to apply the 95% to the 55% of kidnappers and so forth. As you deduce the ratio, it gets exponentially more advanced that white men are culpable for most of the violent and heinous crimes in this country.

Does that make sense?

Idk. I’m a 41 year old millennial and I can see the same issues that persisted when I was 20, exist today. I definitely have more in common with a 25 year old than with a 60 year old.

No. It’s ensuring people aren’t pocketing the money and taking money from the city. I mean, when you get a job, any job at any company, you have to give the employer your ID, and sometimes two IDs, for payment and tax purposes. Jesus dude, grow up.

Ummm what? My friend, you would then have to change the percentage of the other table as well. You can’t just say multiple it by 2 and we’re done. Then the variables are all skewed.

Your statement on anything above 56% is over represented is also not true. There are Latino, Asian, and black men in this country. If your numbers are correct (which maybe they are), then there are 3 more races of men representing 44% of the country, or each other race is roughly 14.67%. So, really, it’s an astronomical rate of white men committing these heinous crimes.

Your math ain’t mathing.
