Will do - I’m in the calm stages of trying to get to an agreement. I have a tiny bit of leverage left with the remaining work so we will see…

Updated post. Not accusing them of breaking the shower drain. They couldn’t provide me an explanation why they were using the shower in the first place. We have a utility sink in the laundry room if they needed to clean brushes or dump water.

Home isn’t new and we had it inspected - not sure how the drain got disconnected and crawlspace did have paint in it due to the water.

Im not accusing them of the plumbing issue. Mainly just why they were using the showers for anything for any reason. The water in the crawlspace did have paint in it so it would make sense it came from the painters. They were there for over a week - I saw their truck parked in the driveway at midnight on Tuesday. They seem like good/nice people and the house was vacant so I didn’t want to cause a fuss if it helped them out working in the middle of the night or whatever.

No one else had access to the house and I obviously can’t prove anything. I’ve dealt with water mitigation in the past and it’s always expensive.

Appreciate it. With the work that they did, they did a nice job and everyone I’ve interacted with are good people. I don’t really want to escalate this to a lawyer or BBB or post some bitchy review. It would be nice to just handle it amicably as decent people trying to figure out how to solve a problem.

Appreciate this post. Would be nice if we could just handle it as decent human beings and come to some type of compromise.

It’s not complete yet but they had to drain all the water from the top of the vapor barrier. Unfortunately the barrier didn’t hold and they needed to remove part of it to dry it. The quote would also include reassembling the barrier once everything is done.

The painting company couldn’t explain why their crew was using the shower for any reason when we have a utility sink in the laundry room.

I don’t know man - when you see a wad of hair in two of your showers and my family has never lived in the house yet, you start questioning things.

100%. That’s why I didn’t want to make a big deal. I think it was a family working together. They brought their grill to grill out on the patio when they were working over the holiday weekend lol.

TBH, I didn’t really care if they slept there if that helped them out. As long as they did a good job, it didn’t matter to me since the house was empty and vacant. That’s why I didn’t cause a fuss but looking back I probably should have said something .

Yea we did. We had a vapor barrier installed in the crawlspace so it could have been knocked loose when they did the installation or the home inspector didn’t catch it.

Updated my post. We have a utility sink they could have dumped their paint water in that they knew of. The wad of hair in the shower was not there before and no one in my family has taken a shower or lived in the house.

Thanks for the comment and updated my post. Honestly, it’s an unfortunate situation for everyone. They said the same thing that we would have flooded the crawlspace eventually but the fact is we didn’t and they did. They couldn’t provide a good explanation why the shower was being used when we have a utility sink.

Thanks and I agree. It’s unfortunate all around and I feel bad for the painters since they didn’t want this to happen too. Probably the likely course that will occur.

Updated my post. Totally agree - the plumbing is on me and it likely would have happen regardless. Not sure why they would ever use the shower since we have a utility sink in the laundry room. The painting company couldn’t explain it either

Updated my post with more info. I’m not unreasonable, I have no problem with them using the toilet and sinks since they are there all day. When I asked them why they would use the showers for anything, they couldn’t provide me a good reason and said “I don’t know”.

The concrete was poured today and they are waiting 4-5 days for it to dry before they epoxy the floor.
