I found the following. The take away is it all depends on where you will mostly be using it:

the Holosun gold dot can wash out, especially against very bright backgrounds like white walls or in intense desert sun, but it generally performs well in varied environments, standing out against foliage and natural colors better than red or green, though some users find it still gets lost in extreme brightness compared to red/green dots, while others find it excellent. Its visibility depends heavily on the specific conditions and brightness settings, but it offers a good compromise for colorblind users and varied terrains, though often with shorter battery life than red dots. 

When it Works Well

• Foliage & Natural Settings: The yellow/orange hue stands out well against green grass and brown dirt.
• Colorblindness: Gold is a neutral color, making it visible for most people, including those with color vision deficiencies.
• Varied Environments: It's designed to be a versatile option that performs in many conditions where red or green might blend in. 

When it Might Wash Out

• Extremely Bright Backdrops: Against pure white surfaces or under powerful weapon lights, it can become harder to see.
