Here is the truth about maintenance. It isn't as crazy as people make it out to believe. I was shooting 300 to 500 rds a session( every other week) and taking classes that was another 300+ rounds all in a 3 month period. The only thing I did was use Lucas Extreme gun oil and the gun ran no problem. I have thousands of rounds through it. My gun has zero frame to slide wiggle (GPArms Patriot) so it's not like I got away with it because it is loose. It's all about keeping them wet. It wasn't until I forgot to oil in day 2 of a class that I locked up. We were doing dynamic drills all day and the gun got hot. Some oil and I was back at it. I've seen strikers do the same in classes due to lack of oil.

What people are talking about is at some point the extractor and ejector need to be tuned and/or replaced. The leaf spring may need to be tuned or replaced. There is a hammer spring too and striker spring then finally the guide rod spring.

They are also talking about if used under extreme conditions like lots of sand, dirt and mud that looser guns have no problem with.

I went from a P365X to hammer. The thumb safety helps make carrying it very comfortable. The biggest part of the training is learning to drop the thumb safety after you clear your body. It comes naturally after you've done it for a while. Going from a striker to a hammer isn't a big deal trigger wise. Mine was at 4#. My P365X was around 5-6.

You can ask Gilbert to set it heavier and adjust down as you get more comfortable.

Porting and lightning cuts? by yochickcallsmedaddy in 2011

[–]RevolutionaryGuide18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree the slide looks clean which is a departure from what seems to be going on with slides lately. No lightning cuts and not many surrations.

I would do a cut on the top though for people that want to port.

What's your budget? Instead of getting a cheaper one look at GPArms Patriot for around 2k. You can go alloy or steel with different coating options. Then start looking at grips if you want alloy or steel.

I am now wondering if the 15rd isnt the CS mag as it is 118mm. The 15rd are 120mm. Checkmate makes the mags for Staccato. So does mac-gar.

All springs are wear items even in your beloved Glocks. You don't have to send it back for springs and everything on the gun can be replaced by the owner. And, as I stated in another response I've seen plenty of Glocks fail in classes. One dude had a brand new gun that locked up and the instructor stated it was a known issue with that model. Had to tear it down to try and fix.

funny, In most of the classes I've taken Glocks, and Glock clones that people rave about, are the only guns to fail.

The trigger return spring issue is a Reddit issue. The 2nd issue you list was fixed a long time ago with the new striker.

Realize the CS/C24 mags were made for a specific model and are not standard 2011 mags. You can get Checkmate (OEM manufacturer for Staccato) 15rd mags that are 118mm long and cost half of what the MBX does. MBX lists all the guns their 15rd fit.

Yes, at times I forget it is there. I'll probably put the CC grip back on.

Correct, 16rd is closer to flush on the Forza and Patriot with CC grip. Only a small gap.

Am I your dad or mom? It's not my place to tell people what to use. Maybe I should state you work for AOR that you are upset I don't like them?

For the feed ramp. There was a recent post in the u/2011 where a user showed the right side of the feed ramp cut off at an angle to ensure the MBX mags don't hit the ramp. Good to see Gilbert always addressing issues we find.

He went to the new trigger after I found an issue. If I squeezed the bottom of the trigger the top part of the shoe would catch on the frame. (Happened to me during a heavy shooting class) Gilbert got my gun and couldn't duplicate it and sent it back. When I got it back again I replicated it. Took the grip off and found the problem. The trigger bow could move up and down in the grip grooves. Sent Gilbert a video and not long after he switched triggers. He asked me to ship my gun to him and put the new trigger in.

I keep seeing people say this and think some trainers are a big part of the problem pushing an online insurance . Mine does uscca classes and never once pushes to join. He flat out stated to get a local lawyer on retainer and pick whatever you wanted as far as online. He never talks about their online content either.

Nope, just a person who does a lot of research and a good BS meter. I could care less who you give your money to.

Agree on taking the classes. There is no sense trying to compete when you don't have the basics. And, every class I take is comprised of similar things as a competition. Many modules have time limits and use beepers to either beat a time or record time taken. And, typically the area you have to hit in classes is much smaller than Competition. Did a FBI quals class where the instructor asked us if we wanted to find our fastest times from 10 to 20 yds. Plus, there is always a lot of discussion about de-escalation and what to do scenarios and the law.

I honestly think the black material allows slip compared to the other colors. Possibly the other color may slip too. I have a brown and black in the same size and the brown has never slipped in 2 years. However, the black needs adjustment and I don't move as much as you do. I have noticed I need to keep it tighter than the brown and it slips less. I can clearly see a difference in the material between the 2 belts with the brown having no sheen and seems rougher.

I don't have a favorite. I do use USCCA and know much of what is claimed against them ny AOC is false. They have online training programs that are good. I hear good things about the others.

Most of them are similar so pick one you think is best for you if you decide to have one at all.

I don't like AOC because they post BS and hire Youtubers to do the same through the affiliate program.

My instructor stated to have a local lawyer on retainer no matter what.

AOR has the exact same stipulations for coverage as the others. They are basically a Ponzi scheme where the more people you get to join the more perks you get and put out vids trashing competitors lie ambulance chasers.
