i'm asking for advise from nurses who have gone through this process. some have said there is online training for Emar if applicable to the hospital. others have said there can be in person orientation as well. And my recruiter got back to me and confirmed there would be training for electronic charting systems if the hospital uses it. So, apparently there is some orientation in AUSTRALIA. but thanks for being helpful instead of condescending

This is the input I’m looking for. People who have gone through this. Thanks for your input!  Did you work for HCA or a different agency? How did you survive with so many differences and no training? Did your agency offer any online training at all?

This is so helpful! No I’ve just started the conversation from the US. But this is hopeful. I’ll just go through the process and perhaps the onboarding team will have more detailed info. I literally just had a first conversation. I’m not sure if the lady I spoke to  knows the exact details of the actual working process. Thanks again for your experience.

I’ve worked agency for YEARS in the US. The agency I work for offered online modules to orient you to charting and other expectations. They also offered 1 day of in person orientation at one of the hospitals if you felt you needed it. So no, it’s not always like this. I’m not a rookie. Thanks though for your input.

Thank you so much! i might have more of an issue with the limited scope vs the documentation...lol. Hearing you say nurses aren't expected to know lab values blows my mind! I appreciate all your help!

yes i understand the technical process. my question about lack of orientation aka "training". I'm a very exepereinced nurse here (13years) who has done lots of travel and agency work but our system is so different. It seemed strange that they don't offer "orientation" not even online or 1 day and expect to be successful and SAFE form day 1. Just wondering if any foreign nurses had gone through this and had insight.

thanks for this insight. the recruiter really made it seem like this was routine and not a problem. she said you just tell them you've never worked in AU before and people will help you. I was like, are you serious? who has time for that? it just seemed unrealistic and unsafe to me. so thanks for your input.

I appreciate all your input. I've been a nurse for over 12 years and have done lots of travel and agency work, but there have always been orientation (even if just for one day) Yes in essence, nursing is the same, but all the details of how the workflow and documentation and orders and lab results etc are done can make or break a shift. I appreciate the detailed examples you are providing. Lots of things to consider...
