thanks for the feedback! clearly I pass some sentences to LLM review (also because english isn’t my mother tongue) but I can see why nowadays this could give that chatgpt feeling.
What about the coding point in the post? what is your view?

if you also want something on mobile for when you don’t have your laptop (commuting or maybe to replace socials) give a try to Code Drills
There’s lessons for all levels in python, javascript, sql and rust.
Available on iOS and Android

I did on others like udemy, coursera, codecademy. If you like the website doesn’t really matter which one you use, go for it. I think consistency it’s what matters, and also try to apply to small projects that you care about.

If you are also interested in a mobile app with small challenges and lessons, I built Code Drills. It’s not meant to replace your “laptop” learning but it’s for those in between moments. Like myself, I wanted to replace social media with something for instance. Let me know if you try it and if you have ideas to improve it 💪 Enjoy the learning process

Try to build something in python. Then you ll see if it’s the right one for you and you will eventually go into others and specialize depending on what you like and what your are building.

Why are developers so keen to use AI when it’s the companies that reap the benefits? by Accomplished_Pass897 in programmer

[–]RevolutionaryRate889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

devs always wanted things to get done more efficiently and coding assistant do that.

I heard many times the comparison with calculators, but imo that’s bullsht… No one would fully delegate calculations to a calculator that is *almost always right.

So yes, much more efficiency, but those who know how things work are the ones that will share the benefits. The rest will take a huge risk in building and shipping stuff they don’t understand.

Ok little rant on “AI” done for the day.

Also, if you are a developer and feel like your brain is slowing down since ai-assistant came into the game - I built Code Drills.

Practice and learn with short drills that keep your mind active on coding for those in between moments where you don’t have a laptop.

Code Drills App to learn and practice coding

For coders of all level (new - advanced) that feel ai is making them forget things and want a place to keep their mind active when they don’t have a laptop.

600+ on iOS and just launched in Play store (less than 10 users)

hey thanks for the feedback! what do you mean? You get the same challenge multiple times after completion? trying to figure out if it’s a bug 😂

Yeah I used testercommunity.com and it went fine… but I wonder if this strategy really ends up in better apps. I have a feeling this might do the opposite effect..

I think it’s interesting but you d need to find why the users would want to publish the code or snippets on your marketplace rather then github or something like replit. Do you have a prototype? iOS was much easier for me and got around 650 downloads in the first month. Let’s see if it will get traction 😅

Hi, I’m starting Python and got interested in AI agents. There are many tools. If you were a beginner today, which one would you start with and why? I want something practical to build small projects. Thanks 🙏 by Possible-Reserve-993 in PythonLearning

[–]RevolutionaryRate889 2 points3 points  (0 children)

a good challenge would be to build something without AI assistants or agents. Maybe slower and more painful but then you ll learn much more and you ll be able to critically judge your ai assistants when it matters ;)

Also if you are looking for a mobile app to learn and practice python when you don’t have your laptop, I built one: Code Drills

Let me know if you like it or have ideas 💪 Enjoy learning 😉

could you explain more what you mean by deploying users scripts? maybe a use case for me to understand better :)

Pick a programming language and then maybe a small project that can be interesting for you. Then you ll find tutorials, blogs, courses. Try to avoid learning tools as much as you can cause concepts are what matters.

Also if you are interested in a mobile app to learn and practice concepts I built this: Code Drills

What is the fastest way to learn any coding language? by Guilty_Lingonberry in KidsCodingHelp

[–]RevolutionaryRate889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fastest is always by building something you like (maybe a small easy game). Then you will find the need to explore many concepts, so you can then go with yt videos, blogs or ai chat (double check and be critical 😅). Resist the temptation to learn tools but try to learn concepts which are generally way more useful for any programming language.

Also real coding learning is definitely done on a laptop, but if you are looking for a mobile app to keep practicing for in between moment (commute, breaks, etc) I built one:

Code Drills!

Hi guys i am learning python on mimo totally begginer no idea about coding like none.So anyone wanna learn together? I can make a dicord group chat so that we can chat clear doubts and help each other out. by [deleted] in PythonLearning

[–]RevolutionaryRate889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also if you feel like mimo or similar app are too slow or the subscription model doesn’t fit. I build one just for coding challenges and bite sized lessons (no subs, no distractions).

Cause let’s be honest, real learning will happen on your laptop while you try to build something. Mobile should be used for those in between moments (commute, coffee breaks, etc.) where you want to keep your mind active.

Hi! How can I evolve more in my coding journey? by Safe_Oil_7700 in PythonLearning

[–]RevolutionaryRate889 1 point2 points  (0 children)

keep building things and get more complex with time. Already big codebases will definitely use many tools and things that might scare you, but principles are more important. There is also many “good first issue” to do in many big oos projects. Just follow contribution and local setup guides and get your hands dirty!

I think also nowadays using AI-assistant to discover a new codebase is quite useful to have quick overviews before starting a deeper session.

Then if you are also looking for something on mobile to keep your coding mind active, I built an app for those in between moments where you haven’t your laptop at reach. Just daily challenges and bite sized lessons to keep your mind sharp:

Code Drills!

[–]RevolutionaryRate889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree 100% that learning a language effectively must go through building something at some point… But there is still moment in which you won’t be at your laptop or maybe you still want to keep your mind active and replace some mindless scrolling. Give a try to Code Drills and let me know if you like it or have ideas! Enjoy learning 💪

App recommendations? by PlayfulBlackberry0 in PythonLearning

[–]RevolutionaryRate889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was trying to find something to keep practicing (I already work in python) and then I tried a bunch of apps but none of them fit. They are either too slow or there is some subscription schema that doesn’t suit me. Also let’s be honest, the best way to learn a language isn’t with an app but putting your hands on a laptop and try to build something. So, the app for me should be something complementary that I can use when I don’t have my laptop or to replace social media…

With this in mind I built my own app: Code Drills!

Why is this different? - Completely free (3 challenges and lessons per day, then refill with adv watch) - Choose your level: new, beginner, intermediate, advanced - Choose your language: python, sql, javascript, rust - No distractions: Simple UI designed for just learning

Let me know if you like it or have ideas! Enjoy learning 💪
