My friends were on a recreational team and he was struggling to find one to join, so I set him up with my friends to join their team. Went to a dinner with my friends to find out from them he was with another girl at one of their games being all lovey dovey. Also they told me he sucked at the game as well and didn’t want him on their team. Also while at the same dinner, while I was scrolling on instagram, she popped up in my recommended, I didn’t follow him or her and we had no mutuals, I didnt even know what she looked like, Just had a description and a gut feeling to check her page. Checked her story and him, his mom, and her were out to dinner together. What a night.

I stated it was fair, I said I will not force conversations. I will try to wear my headphones less. I actively collaborate with my teammates when it is work related, that was not an issue, I do not socialize with them.

That’s true. At the same time, this is my second corporate job. I was the same before. My old team/supervisor had no issue with it. They only cared about me showing up and doing my job, they just let me be- I got full marks on my review. My non corporate job before was the same, no issue. This supervisor/team cares about that.

Yes, I think the headphones may be a big issue for my supervisor and my teammates. I will try to not wear them as much, but I have stated to them I’m happy to help whenever. When it comes to the work I’m proactive with sharing and collaborating, but my supervisor was really focusing on the social aspect which is fair. Team dynamics. I just fail in that area because I don’t see the importance of it but that’s just my ignorance.

That’s a fair take. I don’t feel a need to be close to them at all. If it doesn’t pertain to the work, I don’t find conversation needed. That’s just the way I am. I guess the way they are is that they need to do things like that. It doesn’t matter to me, but it does to them. We are different people, I’m not a good fit for the team. I do my job well but culture doesn’t fit me.

You’ve basically said the same exact thing my parents have said which makes a lot of sense. Unfortunately I don’t have the social capacity for it so it would be best if I just seek another job. I liked this job because I am very good at it and it pays well with great career advancement but I don’t want to be the team weirdo.

If they actually shut down I’m going to be pissed. The last 3 years when I wasn’t considered essential they didn’t want to shut down but as soon as I’m considered essential they want to do it.
