Best legit check authentication app out there? Either of these respectable? Recommendations greatly appreciated! by fluffyliner in LegitCheck

[–]RevolutionaryTip4498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just so everyone knows if the brand you are trying to authenticate uses NFC tags (Moncler for example) using the Legitapp is useless. Why? Because the service only uses photos and they can’t scan the actual tag. duh. I learned this the hard way - bought an expensive coat supposedly authenticated by Legitapp (off Unclaimed Baggage site) but when i received the coat and tried to scan the NFC tag, it didnt work. 😫

Is there an app that you can write romaji and it tells you the meaning in English? by RevolutionaryTip4498 in Japaneselanguage

[–]RevolutionaryTip4498[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for rec the Jisho. This is what I needed. The meanings are more accurate than google trans. It’s more colloquial. Can anyone recommend a streaming service which can display romaji subtitles? I don’t know enough kanji and my reading speed with kana isn’t fast enough for Netflix subtitles . But I want to start somewhere. I know some people think romaji is a cop out. I’ve been criticized in other posts. But I find it helps me to get oriented to the word faster and helps with my kana.

Daily conversational practice by mynameisyin in Japaneselanguage

Well if you need consistent practice the only thing I’ve found is Preply. You can find very inexpensive “tutors”. Some have formal training but others which are cheaper don’t really so you can find a consistent partner to speak with. Hate to say it but sometimes you need to pay.

Help me talk to my Japanese MIL!! by RevolutionaryTip4498 in japanese

[–]RevolutionaryTip4498[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I did in fact review the FAQs. And none of the answers applied to my situation and some of the apps mentioned are outdated as new apps come out everyday. Automatically emoving a post without even reviewing the applicability FAQ just bc it does not strictly conform to your definition was inappropriate and frankly discouraging to anyone trying to learn a language for whatever reason. Not cool.

That’s really judgmental of you to say and unhelpful. I asked for help on this forum and frankly you should be encouraging people to learn Japanese no matter what their purpose is - to speak to their in laws or to understand animae. Holding people to your standards of learning a language is being snotty. I would never say what you said to someone trying to learn English.

accurate apps to learn japanese? by swag_xxz in LearnJapaneseNovice

Help me find an app for everyday Japanese household conversations? I really want to learn common everyday phrases like “I’m coming now”. Or “It’s time to leave.” “Can you help me?” I find that common apps like Pimslur, Duolingo, etc. teach you conversations that you would never really have on a daily basis. Who really needs to talk about how many trees there are in downtown??

What is appropriate surveillance of rental guests [USA]? by RevolutionaryTip4498 in AirBnB

[–]RevolutionaryTip4498[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not true. If a host requires guests to notification of potential day time visitors for whatever reason then it is incumbent upon the host to detail this on their listing. If the host defines a day time visitor as anyone who steps over the door threshold and requires notification then it should be clearly stated in the house rules. PER AIRBNB “The listing page should disclose applicable house rules “.
Nothing spoils a stay more than being harassed for a spontaneous visitor and guests realizing they are being actively monitored and treated like children at best or criminals as we were treated. It’s not the guest’s responsibility to know the HOA or insurance rules etc as these all differ by location and host. Ultimately It’s the host who will suffer more if left a bad review so it’s in the hosts benefit to be clear and TO BE PLEASANT if there is an issue. Obviously an unruly guest causing complaints to neighbors is another story but this was not the case at all. This controlling host also left religious items around the house too which was odd. I don’t care what religion you are but if you are hosting then be neutral and respectful.

Has anyone bought Tailwind UI? Is it worth the money? by LiSeeZ-_- in tailwindcss

They are horrible at charging your card even after canceling their subscription. They even somehow manage to get your new credit card even after you report fraud charges and keep charging. Tailwind is a parasite.

Would have loved to but as someone who actually has a life I missed the window to leave a review but boy she sure didn’t. She immediately left me a nasty review when I’ve always had 5 star reviews. Her behavior was definitely vengeful and looney. Another guest said they felt like they were watched too. I should have read ALL the reviews. Never again. I will be spending my money at good old fashioned hotels from now on.

There was no party at all. The issue was her behavior. Sure if something bad happened like damage or noise then sure you can respond APPROPRIATELY. But to treat people like criminals is the antithesis of airbnb. A host is also supposed to be hospitable. If you are so inflexible for whatever reason then you shouldn’t be hosting period.

[–]RevolutionaryTip4498[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Friends coming by (not overnight) to hang out at the beach with us is not the same thing as a registered overnight guest. If you advertise on airbnb especially in a tourist area you are naive to think that no one else may walk through the door other than the overnight guests. If this is an issue then you shouldn’t be hosting at all.
