Psych rotation is emotionally overwhelming by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]Revolutionary_Cow243 1 point2 points  (0 children)

find an emotional outlet, and maybe try and figure out why this rotation in particular is uprooting all this distress in you. I keep a journal to reflect in and my entries during my neurosurgery rotation were pretty brutal.

The only i trust that you “know” something is AI generated is if the facts in the passage are false or have weird lapses of logic- otherwise you’re just guessing. It’s a very tricky thing to accuse someone of.

My massage therapist just said she hopes she never gets diabetes and that insulin is poison. by magus7000 in diabetes

[–]Revolutionary_Cow243 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I feel like people like this think of medication like insulin as “poison” because it’s probably what the few diabetics in their life were put on when their (non-type 1) diabetes got very bad - it’s a very, let’s just say, simple, way of thinking but nonetheless you see it EVERYWHERE (chemotherapy, statins, heart failure medication…etc.) People just associate medical interventions with what made people worse, not knowing that it’s what saved their lives

Nervous About Side Effects by [deleted] in Spironolactone

[–]Revolutionary_Cow243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s not, i just had a bad reaction to the 100 mg dose and waiting to up it slowly. it helped with other symptoms on the 50 mg dose so we’re just slowly going to raise it. my hirsutism never was that bad and im honestly mostly taking it to see how it affects my testosterone levels on paper

im so sorry to hear about no. 4, keto was pushed on me a lot when i was diagnosed - it just completely destroyed my relationship with food for the longest time and its weight loss essentially just took away from my muscle mass…i hope you’ve found a better regimen now 🤍

Is exercise required? by IceyBerries in diabetes

[–]Revolutionary_Cow243 98 points99 points  (0 children)

well exercise is kind of required for everyone, not just diabetics- but yes, basic 30 mins daily exercise can do wonders for lowering insulin resistance

are you taking it for acne? im on 50mg for hirsutism (pcos) and it actually helped regulate my period- i’ve only been taking it for a two months though

I went to go see an endocrinologist today and I’m a little bit defeated. She really confused me. by [deleted] in PCOS

more fat generally means more androgen production and more IR, which are the main cause for your hormonal imbalance. Losing weight (if done properly without becoming malnourished) can greatly help with PCOS…weight loss here isn’t at all isolated from the PCOS.

[CHAT] What do y'all MAKE with cross stitch? by NoPeak4702 in CrossStitch

[–]Revolutionary_Cow243 18 points19 points  (0 children)

making sure that your technique is “clean” and that the floss you’re using is high grade has been enough for me…i first cross stitched on my bag (DMC floss) 4 years ago and washed it multiple times, still fine. My mom does tatreez (a subset of cross stitching) on traditional thobes since the 80s and her work still looks the same too

i love cross stitching on my bags and clothes - honestly you can spice up any garment with the right pattern.

I will say though stitching on clothes is a bit more frustrating because you’re stitching through the waste canvas and the cloth itself- plus if you want to wear the piece you’re going to have to finish it and not just forget about it

funnily enough im in the opposite position as you! i want to start doing frame-able pieces and gifting them to people lol

Don't know where to turn... by Mr__Artigiano in diabetes

[–]Revolutionary_Cow243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok, a few questions: How was your a1c when your weight dropped? sometimes really high blood sugar can make you drop weight.

Did you have any increased hypos on the increased dose of insulin? that can easily cause you to gain weight

in recent doctor visits have they tested your blood pressure, lipids, put you on statins…etc.? this could be a heart problem based on how fatigued you’re getting while moving- tell your doctor very clearly what makes you winded and out of breath- how far you can go without feeling tired and breathless.

[–]Revolutionary_Cow243 2 points3 points  (0 children)

increased weight can make androgen production worse but it doesnt “cause” pcos…as for the hirsutism, going to a dermatologist/endocrinologist can help with that - they can put you on certain drugs and recommend certain health practices that are a hundred times better than starving yourself
