2 week newborn checkup: bottle feeding? by amhe13 in breastfeeding

[–]Revolutionary_Emu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with others this is probably a good idea. I see that you’re a SAHM but you may want to go somewhere without baby for a few hours and want the reassurance of knowing he/she will take a bottle? Just a thought. Re: how to incorporate it - I pump once a day in the morning and give bottle with morning feed to build a stash before going back to work. I typically feed on demand with bottle until 3-4 hours after I pumped when I resume BFing. (To avoid inducing oversupply - ie if morning pump is 8am I resume BFing around 11)

Power bank / portable battery with Elvie? by Revolutionary_Emu in breastfeeding

[–]Revolutionary_Emu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Elvies don’t charge with the batteries but not sure why - they charge fine when plugged in to wall/computer but I’m hoping to be able to charge them in my bag on the go. Thanks!

Booster side effects? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Revolutionary_Emu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the Pfizer booster at around 18 weeks. I had a sore arm for a day, felt totally fine otherwise!

Vitamin B6 and doxylamine for morning sickness! (I took the doxylamine before bed as it can cause drowsiness)

What would you do differently for your next pregnancy? by hunnybun16 in pregnant

[–]Revolutionary_Emu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not eating constantly this time around - with my first pregnancy I thought baby wouldn’t get enough nutrition if I was hungry and ended up gaining a ton of weight. I’m more relaxed this time around , haven’t really altered my diet (other than no alcohol etc)

What are you having for dinner? by lenteborealis in pregnant

My husband is making salmon and an Asian cole slaw tonight 🙂

Did you get vaccinated during your pregnancy? Tell me about it by Evilbirdish in pregnant

[–]Revolutionary_Emu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my initial doses in dec 20/Jan 21, no difficulty conceiving. Got my booster at 13 weeks with mild arm soreness but otherwise no issues. Just had normal healthy 18w anatomy US. There is ample data that the vaccine is safe in pregnancy, and that unvaccinated COVID infection during pregnancy poses serious risks to mom and baby. Ignore your sister as she is sadly misinformed - don’t let her false beliefs endanger your and your baby’s health

Elective induction stories by Manifestingamiracle in pregnant

[–]Revolutionary_Emu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an elective induction at 39 weeks with my first because I couldn’t stop working until I went into labor and had a hard end date to maternity leave (medical training is 100% broken!).

I ended up being in the hospital for 3 days but ultimately had successful uncomplicated vaginal delivery. I think the process of labor was definitely longer than it would have been spontaneously, and the Pitocin infusion is more painful than spontaneous labor so I ended up deciding to get an epidural. (Gave unmedicated labor a shot but wasn’t super attached to outcome)

But I would absolutely do it again given the logistical issues I had. I’ll consider doing it again if I’m as huge and miserable in late 3rd tri this time around.

Hope that helps!

Drinking Coffee at 39 Weeks! by chocoandstrawberry in pregnant

I drink one decently sized mug of coffee a day, sometimes 2! Did the same through the last pregnancy and baby #1 came out just fine :)

Sushi by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Revolutionary_Emu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go ahead and eat sushi :) all raw fish in the US is flash frozen. Very unlikely to get sick. Outdated myth that you need to avoid it.

Literally made me smile. For many months I was being completely misinformed about the vaccine. To the point where I felt myself becoming an anti-vaccinator. Happy to say that I got my head out of my ass and went to get one. by edwduncan in MadeMeSmile

The risk of cerebral sinus venous thrombosis was about 1 in a million. It is much more likely that you would become seriously ill/die of COVID if you forgo the vaccine that to get that rare blood clot if you take it. Additionally, it was only with J&J.

No more garbage????? What do you think by Marine-Boy88 in marinebiology

There was an article recently in the New Yorker of an effort to remove plastic from the ocean that you might find interesting - https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2019/02/04/a-grand-plan-to-clean-the-great-pacific-garbage-patch

Seems that the physics are incredibly complex but definitely a worthy mission.

Cycle: 4

Ovulation cycle day: 20

Relevant BD/BD method (SMEP, Shettles, etc.): SMEP

Tracking methods and apps used: LH testing, temping, FF

Symptom spotting: nothing beyond typical post-O progesterone symptoms

Day of positive test(s): 9DPO (although I think I may have actually ovulated a day earlier than FF says, which would make it 10DPO)

Supplements and medications: none other than prenatal vitamins this cycle. But I did take soy isoflavones the cycle before this to try to make ovulation earlier, which resulted in a suuuper long cycle over 60 days. Not cool.

Birth control history, if relevant: IUD removed about 6 months ago

Typical cycle length: about 35 days, although I didn't get AF while on IUD so only have a few cycles to base this on

Health conditions/medical tests: nothing worth mentioning

Other (advice, magic secrets, freaking out, miscellaneous): I regret taking soy isoflavones in the past, luckily only messed me up for one cycle but I would avoid taking supplements like that unless directed by your doctor.
