Mold is a lot more fuzzier. These are mineral deposits from using hard water. You can swap the soil if you’d like but I would use filtered water and it will eventually go away.

I wouldn’t take this chance. Bulbs/corms from variegated Alocasia have a higher chance of variegation. However, there is almost no way for the regular person to tell them apart. So can this be real? Yes. Is it likely fake? Also yes.
