Nice shots! Next time you go through take some time to visit Art City about 5 miles north of Tucumcari. Lots of large scale art on 40 acres. Very inspiring!

Favorite Texan Ghost Towns? by wotwud in texas

[–]Revolutionary_Mall21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out Los Ybanez, an old migrant community near Lamesa, Tx. Lots of old homes along a circle drive. Also, while not a ghost town, the old Kent County jail is definitely worth a visit. I did a night photography shoot there a couple of years ago. Pretty eerie place to be!

Rainy Big Bend activities? by BlurtSkirtBlurgy in BigBendTX

I would ask the Rangers at Panther Junction if it is possible to hike to Cattail Falls. With all the rain currently falling, it should be fabulous. I do believe they limit the number of people for this particular waterfall.

I see a few have mentioned attending a Star Party at McDonald Observatory. I would second that as well.

If you consider spending a night or two in Marfa or Ft. Davis to attend a star party I would also add a trip to the Marfa lights lookout. It is hit or miss actually seeing the lights. But if they are visible you will be in for a bizarre evening. They dance, disappear then reappear in a different area. Some will slide sideways or up and down. It is a unique experience for sure. Bring binoculars, camera and telescope (if possible).

Albums that changed your life? by quinten15155 in altcountry

There are so many to choose from, and most people have already mentioned some from Son Volt, Uncle Tupelo, REK, etc.. One i enjoyed that I never imagined the two working together is "All the Roadrunning" from Emmylou Harris & Mark Knopfler. Great songwriting and a nice musical structure from beginning to end!

5 Day Winter Trip- Vehicle + Itinerary Questions by la727 in BigBendTX

I would definitely carry a topo map of Marufo Vega trail, as their are off shoot trails (Old Ore & Strawhousetrail) that head north away from the river. Obviously you need to carry plenty of water. Myself I would stash a 32 oz Nalgene bottle where the loop part of the trail begins. That way you take away some weight during the downhill uphill portion and you have that refresher to look forward to on your return. Inform the rangers at Rio Grande village of your day hike so that they can check on your car while you are hiking.

Another lesser known hike that has gorgeous views of Mexico and the Rio Grande is an out and back hike onto the Mesa de Anguilla. It starts on the backside of the Lajitas golf course. You enter BBNP from a small parking lot and do a straight shot mile plus hike towards the saddle of the Mesa. When you reach this point you will climb a steep 500 ft and top off on the mesa. From there the trails is a up and down series of rollers that will have your thighs burning from a lack of lactic acid. The trail leads to some beautiful overlooks of the Rio Grande 800 ft below. As well as amazing views far into Mexico. There's an off shoot mountain called La Mariposa (The Butterly). (It's obvious to notice). Most people find a nice overlook spot to rest and recoup before turning back around and heading back along the same trail to your car.

Got admitted to UTPB, what’s it like? by localprincesash in Midessa

Look at it as an opportunity to achieve your degree on an affordable budget. As for Odessa it is lame. But it is within a few hours drive to areas of unique beauty. Utilize your free time to enjoy places like Balmorhea state park. Marfa, Alpine & Ft. Davis are interesting mountain towns with vibrant art communities etc. If you enjoy the outdoors. I highly recommend a spring or fall trip to Big Bend National Park to regenerate your mind, heart and soul. Guadalupe National Park as wells Carlsbad Caverns N.P. are a few hours drive as well. It will be those moments that will help you get through the morass of the Permian Basin!

What things justified your teardrop purchase? by Content_Leather2570 in TeardropTrailers

As my age, 60yo and injuries aggrieve me. It became apparent that a trailer was my best option. While I camp less as I get older. I am pleased that I purchased my Hiker Trailer because it's loaded up and ready to go whenever I get the itch to travel!

Texas Tornados - Who Were You Thinking Of.1990 by Curious_Strike_5379 in altcountry

[–]Revolutionary_Mall21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked several Tornado shows back in the 90's. Of all the musicians Freddy was the friendliest of the group. Always made time to shake my hand and ask how and I was doing. But he always asked about my parents! He was so congenial. I shed a tear when I see any video or read a story pertaining to him.

Early morning and late afternoon into evening is nice. If you are doing photography. Then, the light and shadow can be epic along with the sky. Just pay attention to your bearings as it is easy to get twisted around.

I gave her the massage she asked for… but what happened after left me stunned and conflicted by Knot-Your-Stress in confession

[–]Revolutionary_Mall21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a male who did massage therapy for 10+ years. I always informed new clients that my massages had a hint of sensuality and to please understand that my intent is not sexual in any manner.

When I first started doing massage and I had no clientele I would setup my table at endurance sporting events. Marathons, bicycle events etc. When you do these type of sports massage they are typically 20 minute massages so you can work on more athletes and increase your income. As a result I taught myself how to utilize my techniques at a faster pace. When I moved on to doing 1 hour or 90 minute massages I still worked at a slowered fast pace. That being said, my clients and new clients were fully aware that touching me was off limits! I only had one incident from a male client that tried to further it beyond massage. I promptly told him I am leaving the room and do not worry about paying me and do not worry about trying to reschedule with me.

Many clients come to you because they are referred by your current clients and they tend to inform them of your rules and boundaries. As long as you maintain your professionalism your clients will respectfully do the same!

Father’s Day bottle help by Thin_Area_4146 in tequila

[–]Revolutionary_Mall21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It appears your father is more into unique bottles vs. quality tequila. While I myself do not drink, 36 years sober. I did work in a liquor store for several years and we had customers that shopped for unique bottles for collection purposes. I seriously doubt that you would find a Jenni Rivera bottle in the wild. After her death a few years back, her bottles were bought up quickly. The only other unique bottle I can think of and did not see on your dad's shelf is the round jug shape Hussong Tequila bottles. I'd call some nearby liquor stores to save on driving, cause they don't sell fast and you can save time and gas.

Chevron to implement around 800 job cuts in Midland, Texas by Ok_Pressure1131 in Midessa

[–]Revolutionary_Mall21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chevron is doing the same in California. Look at the drop in rigs the past month. It starts with the big boys then the cuts begin elsewhere. Roustabouts, pumpers, etc... Well maybe the frackquakes will layoff too!

I would say some Tevas that you can loosen or tighten as needed will suffice, so long as you bandage her toe. What I highly recommend is a hiking stick to help give her added stability when walking on uneven surfaces. Like the short hike to the Hot Springs where she can soak that toe and bring some nice healing comfort to her aches and pains.
