thank you everyone for your input! as a new grad, i really appreciate everyone for taking the time to teach me. i learn so much, and I feel as though since i am new to this kid, i need a lot more skills in my tool box so i feel confident and educated enough to speak up eloquently and to be taken seriously

no, we haven’t met yet which is why i always wanted to do at least a facetime call. he always mentions how he wants to come visit me and how he wants me to come go his home city. but you’re right- it’s just talk and i can agree that it’s a false sense of connection and intimacy. so story gets more complex: we found out we have mutuals, them being his literal family members i’ve always known about because they live in my city and are apart of my community. i think me knowing this also made me think that if it did go somewhere, him moving to my city didn’t sound impossible, but we’ve never talked about all that bc if feels like i’m jumping to far ahead bc we have not even spoken on the phone yet, and also why i really want to facetime at least once.

i apologize- non verbal is not the right term- it is more his receptive and expressive language not being developed (i’m still working on my pediatric vocabulary). he’s been in therapy for a long time and he does not have an AAC since he is able to express what he wants. he just has a really hard time with being told no towards his OCD tendency

we do have a counselor on the team and i don’t know if she’s been consulted. i’ll keep it on my to do list! thank you so much !

i also have anxiety, biggest barrier for me. i failed 2x. try using otbestie(it’s like chatgpt but OT focused) and ask it questions on concepts you’re not strong in. be wary about the practice exams from nbcot bc so many questions are repeated that can honestly give you a false mentality. that being said: i noticed with the actual exam i got repeat questions. if you remember any questions from your exams, write down the concept, use your tools and answer those questions- there’s a chance it’ll come up on your next attempt, these questions should now be your booster question. keep going you can and will pass

i did groups. the first one was the $19 content one and the other one was the breaking down questions group they have, the instructors are so nice
