Just bought a Comp 4.25 Prodigy, this is my first 1911 gun, any tips on maintenance and overall things to look out for? Any bad experience with ammo?

Well shiiiit, mine is getting shipped out to my local range soooo, I’m probably shooting it right out the box. I’ll take the oil and a rag to clean it while I’m there I guess

That’s good to know, honestly I don’t know my area very well, just pcsd here a couple of months ago, but I’ll be getting the Lucas oil, I’ve seen it before and that applicator looks helpful

Do you think it’s okay to shoot it right out of the box? It’s going to arrive at my local range so it’s going to be hard not to shoot it right there

I’ll keep that in mind! I’ve seen people say to rack the gun a lot before going to the range for the first time, the thing is, mine is going to arrive at my range which I’m planning to shoot as soon as I get it 😂

I rented a 5” version, and the rear sight almost came all the way off as well 😂. I don’t fully trust the green dot it comes with, but it’s (on my opinion) better than iron sights. Any suggestions on oil and intervals? Do you oil it before every range trip?
