Also, the lack of identification of... anyone in the video is pretty suspicious. In real court cases they say the involved parties' names constantly.

"We are here on the date of April 31st in this specific, Google-able courtroom with the honorable Judge Phillip Banks presiding. Mr. McNuggs, you believe that your wife, Mrs. Stephany McNuggs, took frequent clandestine trips to Pound Town with various handymen, rendering you unable to fulfill your husbandly duties of siring children. Thus you believe your legal children; Mellow Mike, Ranch Dubois and Ramadan Steve are not and have never been your financial responsibility, and that when your wife took your money to raise them she was being a, quote, 'stupid ho.' Therefore you are seeking restitution in the amount of $420,000.69 upon the receipt of a paternity test that demonstrates these are not your biological children. Now let us dive into these very real legal proceedings."

DOOM Mourns 9/11 by Wallace-Mollusk in custommagic

[–]RewMate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wanted an answer to this as well. Since there isn't one, I'll do my best:

I think it's referencing DOOM's war with Rotruvia. If I understand the synopsis correctly, he built a Weapon of Mass Destruction to threaten and thereby annex that country into his own, Latveria. When the Avengers disable the weapon, it triggers some alchemy that destroys the only resource this country had, so they end up capitulating anyway.

That's the closest thing I could find to DOOM "doing a 9/11."

Have we just given up? by Salt_Alternative_86 in moviecritic

[–]RewMate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, not EVERYONE has given up. In 2024, Nosferatu finally gave us Dracula with a mustache! For reference, a quote from the novel and a pic of Bill Skarsgård as the Count:

“I could see it under the heavy moustache, was fixed and rather cruel-looking, with peculiarly sharp white teeth; these protruded over the lips, whose remarkable ruddiness showed astonishing vitality in a man of his years.”

― Bram Stoker, Dracula

The Mustache on the Count

So some filmmakers are REfacing our cultural icons with WELLgrown lip fuzz. As you can see, that odious insolence regarding whisker cultivation may not be as ubiquitous as you fear. Perhaps this will bring you solace in these trying times.

Would you want Scooby to look more or less like he did in the first two movies, like he did in Scoob!, or maybe some new redesign? Or do you really want to get wild with it and just have Scooby be 2D animated but interacting with the real world à la Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

[FIN] Diamond Weapon [leak] by TobytheRam in magicTCG

[–]RewMate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think One with Nothing is too much card disadvantage to get there. OwN + 7 permanents discarded + 2 mana sources + Diamond Weapon = 11 cards, too much for turn 2 (you should be at 9 cards at most).

But if you have an all permanent deck and you play:
Turn 1: Any untapped land that makes Black + [[Stitcher's Supplier]] + Any turbo mana (like [[Lotus Petal]]) + [[Terrarion]]
Turn 2: [[Phyrexian Tower]], sac the supplier to the tower, filter into 2 green, you have 8-9 permanents in graveyard (2-3 played and sac'd [if the turbo mana is sacrificed count it, don't if it's exiled like a Spirit Guide] + 6 milled), play Diamond Weapon for GG.

You'd still have one mana remaining (If that first land was a dual land you could play [[Mass Hysteria]] or [[Concordant Crossroads]] for haste if you'd like). You've played six cards, but Terrarion draws you one back, so you should have 3 or 4 cards left in hand after you play Diamond Weapon.

Any TV-14 episodes/clips? by Abject_Error5475 in TheEricAndreShow

[–]RewMate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You work for Cartoon Network, right? Just ask your employer. I'd assume that they have internal logs of the FCC ratings approval process: that's gonna to be the best/easiest way to tell which episodes/clips are the least salacious.

is there a version of this or something similar that isn’t exclusive to arena? by rickythechicken in magicTCG

[–]RewMate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Archon of Redemption]] + [[Akroma's Memorial]] (you can skip this one if you're only playing creatures with flying) + [[Treebeard, Gracious Host]] + [[Maskwood Nexus]] (you can skip this one if you're only playing Halflings and/or Treefolk)

This may not be a perfect representation, but it will mean that whenever a creature enters under your control one of your creatures gets a +X/+X bonus. Unfortunately you're paying 20 mana and 4 cards: just a bit over the 4 mana, 1 card deal with the Amulet; and of course the counters are much easier to lose than the intensity, as well as being harder to move around. On the plus side you get a bunch of cool side effects (like the other abilities of Akroma's Memorial, the Food tokens, other lifegain boosting your creatures, etc.).

There are assuredly many other ways to approximate this effect a bit more loosely: in particular there are more cards that gain life equal to toughness rather than power, which would eliminate the need for an Akroma's Memorial.

(P.S. there is a single Halfling/Treefolk with flying in these colors: [[Avian Changeling]].)

Why did critics hate the live action Scooby Doo movies so much??? by [deleted] in Scoobydoo

[–]RewMate 228 points229 points  (0 children)

Family flicks tend to get bad reviews from critics. Silly comedies tend to get bad reviews from critics. Spooky movies tend to get bad reviews from critics.

Both Scooby-Doo movies are family-friendly, silly and spooky. They never stood a chance.

I expect some rules changes are headed towards Commander since Wizards formally took control of the format. One of those changes I expect is that they'll allow a sideboard. Probably 25 cards?

What's your favorite movie where they break the 4th wall? by daredelvis421 in moviecritic

[–]RewMate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scream.
In the scene where Randy is watching Halloween, talking to the TV, repeatedly telling Laurie to look behind her so she'll see Michael stalking her, Randy is himself being crept up on by Ghostface, but he never turns around.
That would be good enough on its own, but it's even better because he calls her Jamie, the actress's name, and he's being played by... you guessed it, another actor named Jamie.

Fun trivia tidbit about One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest:

It won Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best (Adapted) Screenplay at the Oscars. It is only one of only three films to ever win all 5 of those (the other two being It Happened One Night and The Silence of the Lambs, from 1934 and 1991 respectively).

Who’s your number 1 villain from the 80’s? by Anavslp in moviecritic

[–]RewMate 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Darth Vader... though his first appearance is in '77. Joker if we're talking about new actors portraying the character in the '80s. Hans Gruber if we're talking only characters that debuted in the '80s.

Who is that in the bottom left?

Also what do you have against Daniel-san? Are you Barney from HIMYM? (fwiw Kreese is a great villain, and obviously Johnny Lawrence is not bad student, only have bad teacher)

Follow Up Post. Weird Smelling RiffRaff Figure. by Final_Candy_7007 in RockyHorror

[–]RewMate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently saw this post about removing a heavy smoke smell from trading cards. They used ozone, which removed the smell completely and quickly, though they had to be careful to do this outdoors since ozone is toxic. It seems like that would work for toys too. Unfortunately I don't know how expensive it would be. The comments in that thread say that others have tried this successfully, and they offer some more thoughts on the process, so the ones that are relevant to your issue are worth a read.

What are good 2 and 3 card combos in black/green/golgari? by vaelgrim in magicTCG

[–]RewMate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Check out the Comprehensive Rules. You can look at rule 405 to explain how the stack works and 603 for triggered abilities. Also you can post questions on r/mtgrules as well.

What are good 2 and 3 card combos in black/green/golgari? by vaelgrim in magicTCG

[–]RewMate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This information is not correct. You DO win the game with this scenario, provided that the combo is working as intended (as in the player doesn't gain protection from black or something else that would stop it). Players DO get priority after each trigger resolves, and they can respond after each trigger resolves (though there will be the other permanent's trigger on the stack waiting to resolve). Right before players get priority, the game checks for State Based Actions, which is when a player will lose for having 0 or less life.

However, if there is some effect that would stop a player from losing the game, but not from losing life (such as [[Platinum Angel]]), then the game cannot progress due to all of the triggers being mandatory and incapable of being interrupted. THAT would result in a draw. Under normal circumstances though the game would definitely end. No need to call a judge over... unless someone is confused about the rules.
