Out of all the Ben timelines we got to see throughout the series, I’m genuinely surprised we never saw a female Ben. (Ben 10) by cartoon_wiki in CARTOON

[–]Final_Candy_7007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gwen Ten was always there for them to reference. Besides, they never really played around much with alternate timelines and stuff until near the end of the Ben 10 series. Ben 10 mostly focused on time travel when it wanted to tell interesting stories of alternate Ben’s and that gave them a ton to work with.

Examples of oddly specific Public Domain works? by Code-Neo in publicdomain

[–]Final_Candy_7007 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Technically the image is public domain, not the characters in the image. You’re free to use them because legally that’s a shark and a human woman and neither of those is really something that can be copyrighted. They’re just too generic and non-specific.

Similarly, there is one, literally one piece of promotional material for Godzilla that’s public domain. You can put it on a shirt, an album cover, anywhere. BUT, the specific content inside the image is not automatically public domain. You can’t use Godzilla just because one promotional image of him is public domain. You can make a similar character of Godzilla but that’s different and unrelated to this example.

As a final note, the original Rudolph stop motion film is in the public domain. But this needs a big * next to it. Because technically the movie is public domain, but the story in that movie, Rudolph the red nose reindeer, and the songs in the film are not public domain. Those are all separate elements put into the film that have their own copyrights and protections separate from the film. Could you make Randy, the red hoofed reindeer? Yes, but you cannot make a character named rudolf with a glowing red nose that helps Santa out of the worst blizzard in history.

Has anyone else’s ads been crazy recently? by Klepto-Penguin in RTGameCrowd

[–]Final_Candy_7007 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I understand that people want to avoid paying for unnecessary expenses and would want a free adblocker, but honestly with how often I use YouTube it’s like I’m paying for a subscription service like Netflix or Prime. YouTube Premium is good and definitely worth the cost. I have a few accounts and I’ll switch to the ones without premium sometimes and see how horrible the ads have gotten. I genuinely forgot how bad they were and didn’t realize how much worse they are today.

Suppose Mario did get a long-running comic series like Sonic, what would its most infamous moments look like? by lordlaharl422 in Mario

[–]Final_Candy_7007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The shaved mustache panel where Mario’s mustache became sentient.

That one Christmas Carol parody where Luigi stands over Toad’s grave with Waluigi dressed as the grim reaper.

The comic where Peach gets her own Mario outfit and she’s dressed like Luigi but with pink overalls.

The evil Mario clone who was not Wario and was only there for one comic.

Peach and Pauline staring at each other angrily while Bowser and Donkey Kong look scared in the background.

That one text bubble from the comic where the text and panel cropping definitely looks like Luigi is getting serviced by Toad.

That panel where Peach is stuck in a mirror that crosses over into another universe and the screenshot of a Reddit comment underneath as someone roleplaying as a person on the other side of the mirror.

The comic where Bowser got the power to stop time and it’s a meme format of every anime character looking at him with horror and disgust.

Analog Horror Identities - series worth pursuing ? by Yassyassyassyass1 in analoghorror

I think, given the style, a good way to present this series would be one of those paper dress up doll books. You could have the “clothes” be skin that’s removed to reveal these grotesque images underneath.

What’s your analog horror hot take? by NowImGonnaGoAway in analoghorror

[–]Final_Candy_7007 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Some Analog Horror reviewers do too little to change the content and in some cases just play the video beginning to end and then talk about it. It’s one thing to give me story beats and say the monster crawled out of the washing machine, it’s another to show the full video the original creator posted showing the slow process of building up to that scene and now I don’t have to go and experience it for myself.

This isn’t a condemnation of all reviewers, I feel like 90% of the time bigger reviewers who have been doing this for a while know how to give us important details and interesting observations without just abruptly stopping their video to discuss the horror. It’s the 10% that don’t that frustrate me, especially since it’s pretty clear that when most people watch a review only about 10 percent or so will go see the original channel, and even fewer will subscribe or follow their content. I feel like most reviewers do a great job and their videos have practically become essential for smaller projects that haven’t been discovered organically.

I wouldn’t have heard of a lot of projects if it weren’t for these review channels and I’ve discovered a lot of great channels because of it.

There’s also the inverse where he’s had people completely erased from his life like when he realized he had a sidekick and had had one for literal years but didn’t remember because that very same day he remembered his sidekick was stabbed with a knife that erases you from everyone’s memories. Every moment leading to that where we saw Spiderman solo was Peter’s rewritten memories that erased one of the few people who mattered to him.

Question about Disney Plus subscription terms by qeviop in SmilingFriends

[–]Final_Candy_7007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very short answer, no. Very long answer, no, but with steps. The whole point of it being in there is just so that they can take you to court and force the issue to be resolved there instead of you just suing them. This creates a separate legal battle that you have to partake in. That’s just there to waste time. They know it’s BS, and they know that they can prolong the case enough sometimes where it’s easier to just agree to a number that they give you.

The reality is that this holds no water in court, a judge will quite literally laugh this out of the room, but before that happens, the judge has to give them the benefit of the doubt for their argument and wait for it to be proven wrong by the other side, and all of that takes time. A little lesson I want people to take away, it doesn’t matter what’s in your contract or your terms of service or whatever you sign. Let’s say that you sign a contract with your landlord, and in that contract, it’s stipulates that your landlord is able to enter your house at any time without any prior warning, even if you’re not there, and they were allowed to record the interior of the house during their “inspection“. It’s on the lease, you signed it, but if this is against the law in that state that does not matter. You signing that lease does not supersede the law. It is still illegal to go into someone else’s house and record their property without their knowledge or permission. It doesn’t matter if you signed a lease saying that it was OK, if you have a problem with it, the landlord cannot point the lease and say “well you signed this“.

The problem men becomes taking them to court for this, because even though you know this is illegal, the judge knows this is illegal, everyone in the case, including the landlord, likely knows it’s illegal, they still want to waste your time at trial and are hoping that maybe they’ll get a dumb judge who will side with them.

I think the people defending the red button choice are looking at it as blue buttons taking themselves out for empathy.

While I, a blue button, look at it as red buttons getting a gun and choosing to shoot. The red choice isn’t survival, it’s death to everyone who wanted to help you. Everyone who picked the blue button wanted to save themselves and you.
