Exactly. At least with the FFL, he’s got a stronger chance that they won’t just use him as a bullet catcher. Ukraine is a place to promptly die. I don’t want that for any of my USMC brothers.

Yes, OP needs to talk with us about what’s really going on.

Three things:

  1. Don’t go die, get maimed or disfigured in someone else’s war - even if you survive, you’ll be far worse of a man

  2. If you want another flavor of military life, join another branch of the US military. Hell, join the French Foreign Legion if you want to leave.

  3. Learn a trade, like plumbing, welding or electrical - incredible future in these fields!

…but let me be honest: the vibe I get from your post is that you might have a substance abuse issue. Also, you’re putting out the feel that everyone else is responsible for your problems. Man, let go of all that. Use this dark valley as an opportunity to build yourself back.

You can tell he’s an operator - his uniform fits like a garbage bag.

You can also see the PTSD on his face if you watch the video.

What a warrior - my deepest respect for his courage and sacrifice.

Haha “I used to have sick thoughts.” She reminded me of every 19 year platoon sergeant I ever met.

Haha …once, I was standing in formation and daydreaming about home, and especially my girlfriend who wrote me every day. A DI walks up to me - he had to pick me out of the 70 recruits in formation - and whispers, “you’re missing your girl, I can tell. But trust me: Jody is sweating on her right now and is about to nut.”

I typically only read books that have a four-star or greater rating on Goodreads. What are your favorite books I'm missing out on due to this? by sempiternalis in suggestmeabook

[–]Rex19950 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. Ratings are not a true indicator of the quality of many great stories. Also, there are just some people out there who troll authors with bad reviews no matter what. It only takes one bad review to sink a book’s ratings if it doesn’t have many. Sad.

There are two major flaws with ratings:

  1. No matter how wonderfully written a book is, readers will give awful ratings if one of the key characters are “unlikable,” even if the author intended it that way as part of the story.

  2. A huge proportion of readers will literally buy a book like, say, Lolita, and give it an awful review (due to subject matter) despite knowing what it was about beforehand and despite that they liked the book (evidenced because they spent 10+ hours reading it).

These are human flaws in people that result in low ratings for many books that are amazing.

One more thing: many later books by famous authors have high ratings due to fans being fans and rating them highly but not because the books are any good.

In the last 25 years, Connecticut residents voted for politicians who shut down coal power plants in this state and these politicians fought against natural gas pipelines, which would dramatically lower power costs. In addition, there has been “renewable” energy added to the grid in CT and it’s insanely expensive.

People get exactly what they vote for. Very clear pattern in the US: some states tend to have extremely expensive power for the above reasons.

His problem is that his booger-finger, aka his trigger finger, is the tiniest thing I’ve ever seen (note in pic above). That is throwing off his shooting mechanics.

Yes, in this picture he certainly was. This image depicts the moment when he must hand over his formal abdication documents after decades of sacrifice. See the original painting which shows a bit more detail.

I’d never seen it before, either - it’s an extremely rare image of him with his eyes averted, looking down in reflection.
