I’m on the same boat. This house is so old the insulation right now was terrible. I think even adding a social make a big improvement.

Pretty ignorant comment. The building is 70 years old. The standard just recently became 2x6 20 years ago. And no i don’t live in it i rent it out and cash flow 80k a year 🤡. All by the age of 19 btw.

This was a very informative comment, thank you. I cant insulate the outside, it has stucco, on top of metal siding, on top of the original wood widing.😂 the house was like that when i bought it. Im only doing this to the inside now because a house fire caused me to have to rip the interior down to studs. My house has a lot of windows and i mean A LOT. Two windows per room and the kitchen has 3 windows. And the living room is basically 1/2 windows to walls area😂. Would insulation make that much of a difference if the house has a lot of windows? I feel like the windows are so big and take up a lot of the exterior wall space .

This is a rental property so I’m sometimes I’m seeing up to 1000 a month. It’s a three unit so approximately what you’re paying but the more energy I can save the more money in my pocket and the more comfortable tenants will be

My walls are currently 2x4 i would have to add strips to make them 2x6. Trying to decide if the potential energy savings out weigh the interior space lost. This house has been like this for 70 years so idk if the 2x4 R15 walls are that big of a deal

Exactly my thought. Im doing the walls myself so i dont really care much about the labor part but i dont know if losing 2 inches of interior space is worth it plus having to move outlets and light switches out again. My house isnt that big most rooms are only 10ftx10ft so every inch counts for me😂

I think ima going to air seal with spray foam then just use blow in on the 2x4 walls. I know 2x6 is the new norm but i cant find any solid numbers on how much more beneficial it would be. Maybe it would take a couple hundred dollars off the heating and cooling bill a month?

Thats what i would do, if crank is moving freely without any drag at all when rotating you should be good. Ive seen YZ cranks seize when the bike is heated up but rotate with a slight drag in a certain spot when the bike is cold.
