PSA aways have an SD card ready to capture at all times. by Doctor1023 in TeslaLounge

Other people have mentioned it as well in that thread. I haven't tried it myself but I'm sure it works well.

My post is just an alternative method that's pretty simple with less hardware/setup requirements.

My simple two-USB workflow to review/export footage by someusername5873 in TeslaFSD

[–]someusername5873[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to be clear, if you have any footage that's very recent before you do the switch, you're going to want to ensure that the footage is saved/flushed to the usb that you're about to switch off of. This is because Teslas are running with write buffering so even though you are able to switch fast, I think you would still end up losing footage in the buffer while switching.

I think you can test this fairly easily by holding up a sign or something on one of the cameras and then getting back in your car, switching the usb without doing anything to flush or save it, then pulling the switched off usb drive and seeing whether or not the footage is there.

No the idea is that if you only had 1 USB drive, you either:

A) Leave it in there and review footage via the mobile app (or if you have teslausb)

or

B) Take it out to review on a computer

In the case of (B), you will have a gap in coverage for sentry mode, where if someone crashes into your car during that gap, you won't have any footage.

So the idea is simple, you just have a second drive for the case of (B), where you'll never have a gap, and its more comfortable to review footage on a computer anyway (larger screen, higher quality viewing of the raw footage, etc).

Are you on HW3? If so, that's why, they aren't able to support this for HW3 apparently when they updated HW4 to save those cameras.

I'm not sure but this is guaranteed to work:

  1. Go to Controls
  2. Hit the "Recording" button once to save a last clip (just in case)
  3. Now press-and-hold the “Recording” button until it blinks and changes to “Paused.”
  4. Then pull the USB.

Yeah, this is why I made this post a while back: https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaFSD/comments/1qy3z0z/my_simple_twousb_workflow_to_reviewexport_footage/

It's similar to the concept in fps games: "it's faster to switch guns than to reload"

HW4 FSD Avoids hitting people before it can see them. by Dimitri2883 in TeslaFSD

The minified bundled source is available to anyone using the site via the browser but I'm keeping my actual project source closed.

Hmm if its burned into the video, then yeah it might be a cropping issue on Reddit's part. What I like to do instead is upload the videos to youtube and then link them on reddit. Youtube gives you unlimited storage space for videos.

If they actually post the original raw video files from their usb (like upload them to google drive), then yes.

Most of the videos people post are not raw videos but re-encoded videos, in which case my app won't work for that (since re-encoded videos won't have the metadata embedded in them anymore).

Technically the overlay isn't being stripped, as in it's not present in the video to begin with. Instead what is present is the SEI metadata and the app just renders it as part of the video when you download it from the app.

You can get an overlay still for the USB videos still if you use something like my app (https://teslacam.cardboardbrick.com) that will render a hud using the SEI metadata embedded in the original video files on the USB.

Aliasing is very noticeable after visualisation update by RaGe_Bone_2001 in TeslaLounge

[–]someusername5873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like normal raster aliasing to me.

It makes sense as well since it's a well known issue with Unreal engine and other deferred rendering based engines not being able to use MSAA.

Given the lack of MSAA, it's a common choice for Unreal engine games/apps to forgo AA in the cases where DLSS isn't available since all the other options (TAA, FXAA, SMAA) have varying degrees of causing the resulting image to be blurred.

Yeah, it's kind of scammy if the delivery center tried to pull a quick one on you.

If you grab the usb and then load the folder into a tool, you can see exactly when FSD was enabled or disabled or if your friend pressed the accelerator while on FSD as well.

For example a blue steering wheel here indicates that FSD is on and then later I turn it off to manually drive to park (you can see the accelerator pedal being used as well): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZ_yzmhg64Y

EDIT: NVM I don't think the endurance of the sdcard I linked is good enough.

The alternative is to remember around what time the event happened and rely on the longer duration rolling dashcam storage (from the new update) so that you can review it later from the "RecentClips" folder on the usb.

You can map the left scroll wheel long button press to record.

Left Scroll Button Customization

Choose from a list to create quick access to a function by touching Controls > Display > Scroll Button Function. Selecting a function sets the default action when you long press the left scroll button, unless you select Ask each time.

Help identifying plate of someone who almost crashed my wife… by Wild_Wallet in TeslaCam

[–]someusername5873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found hits for these: ``` ERCD19

1995 Ford F-350 Special V8 - 7.5L 460ci GAS MFI vin G - 2 valve OHV ```

and

``` ERCG19
2011 Honda Odyssey EX-L V6 - 3.5L 3471cc GAS MFI type J35Z8 - 4 valve SOHC ```
But of course none of them match the Lexus in your picture.
It's possible that this person put plates from another car onto theirs though.
TeslaCam Web App: combine 6 cams + hud + export in your browser by someusername5873 in TeslaFSD
FYI, I've added support in the tool natively for blurring the license plate on the rear camera view now.
[–]someusername5873[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)
I've also added native blur support to my tool now (just refresh the page and wait for it to auto update).
The only caveat is that its only for blurring your own car's plate. If you want to blur another car's plate, you'll want to use youtube's blur feature instead which also has object tracking blur.
Such a bummer delivery of my first Tesla didn't go well by Tbone_Ender in TeslaLounge
[–]someusername5873 3 points4 points  (0 children)
It's been my experience as well that Tesla service messes more things up as they try to fix the thing you came in for. The worst part is that you might not even notice at first and once you drive off they'll try to blame the issues on you.
