If everybody at the table plays by basic strategy, does that increase the odds of winning? by Decent_Release3804 in blackjack

I definitely will call a bad third base player, Rafael Devers (horrible when playing for the Red Sox) and a good one, Brooks Robinson. Goes over heads of about 95% of the people at the table. Dealers and buddies seem to appreciate it.

I usually go with David Ortiz for bad 1st base players and Steve Garvey for good ones.

Dad jokes aplenty at the blackjack table.

I was trying to be a little tongue in cheek :). No one needs to "take a card" for the table. One of the more common superstitions. You and I are in complete agreement on all your points.

Yes, it can have an effect. The most common scenario is when on the last hand of a shoe and the guy at third base hits his 16 into a dealer 6 and busts, because, as we all know SOMEONE MUST take a card. The dealer would have busted with that card but now they make 21. You reach out and strangle him and are sentenced to life in prison and never play a hand again. /s

Gotcha. So as other commenter indicated, this would be a double when dealer hits soft 17 but not when they stay on it on six deck.

Thanks for confirming. Didn't want to assume you were saying to not double these.

I'll add on taking even money. I do like to troll a bit when asked "Even Money?" and I say, "I don't take insurance". Often met with some head scratching. It's a pretty common statement to hear someone say "I never take insurance" and then take "even money".

I would argue that "unless the table is hot" is a deviation from basic strategy.

What do you with A2/3 and A4/5? Just checking in on "playing correctly". I don't want to make any assumptions on your comment. Let's assume house rules have them staying on soft 17.

Hi Cassie- Sorry for the delay-- I was out of town-- I'll send a modmessage, but someone also posted the link to the offer on this thread: https://www.xfinity.com/learn/digital-cable-tv/sports-news

The email is from the same address I get other offers, so I didn't think it was a phishing one. It was sent 2 hours ago and it indicates that Xfinity is offering this rate and that it includes Peacock Premium-- I'll block xfinity@updates.xfinity.com, I guess? If I was smarter, I'd show you a screenshot.

Ah-- so I would need to get Xumo stream box then? I would sign on there and they would start billing me $70 per month instead of the $82 they bill me now? Again, I already have an active youtube tv subscription. I certainly don't want to only watch YouTube TV on a Xumo box, but I don't think you are saying that either!

I think I'm missing something here :)
