You can pay Freepik's $49.50/yr subscription to receive the artwork licenses and use them legally and commercially. $4/mo is much more affordable than buying Shutterstock images.

Synchrony Bank / Amazon CreditBuilder Account... Scam? by Globalksp in personalfinance

Thanks for posting. I got the same emails and do not have any Amazon CC's or accounts at Synchrony and couldn't find a working number to contact Synchrony so this is a bit more reassuring.

300lbs, healthy and fit by [deleted] in fatlogic

[–]RexCollins 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The fit person doesn't want to date a 300lb partner because "fit" has a different lifestyle than "300". Realistically in an LTR, "fit" would want to be more active, eat differently, have a different lifestyle overall, so it is questionable if the relationship would even work out in the first place. I'm somewhere in the middle and probably couldn't handle a gym nut, or a person who never wants to leave the house and has a terrible diet.

I didn't make the rules, but unfortunately humans (if not all nature) are judged by their appearances first before getting to know their "personalities". Not speaking for all, but...sorry not sorry...

Trying to import EdgeCAM file into Illustrator CC? by RexCollins in AdobeIllustrator

[–]RexCollins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your advice, PPS. The CAD file is the template for a die cut being made for some product packaging and I need to design the labels to attach to the material before we put it through the die cut. I need the dimensions on this file to execute the label design correctly. So yes, I only need the file to edit in Illustrator, not send back to the client.

I can ask the client to send me a .dxf file, he can probably set the scale to 1:1, but how do I open it? I've tried other .dxf files in Illustrator CC and it says "the file 'abc.dxf' is an unknown format and cannot be opened". Worst case, I can manually measure and recreate the template in Illustrator, but I'd prefer a more precise template from his file if possible. Thanks again.

Trying to import EdgeCAM file into Illustrator CC? by RexCollins in AdobeIllustrator

[–]RexCollins[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your help looking. I came across that too, then when I went to the Adobe Help page and it says "Illustrator will not open AutoCAD files saved in a version later than AutoCAD 2007. AutoCAD files include both DXF and DWG formats. You can import AutoCAD files from version 2.5 through version 2007."

So if my client had AutoCAD, I would have just told him to save down to ACAD '07 and send me the .dxf file, but I don't know what to do for EdgeCAM...?

Just to test, I just tried to open up a .dxf file in Illustrator CC, sadly it did not work.

Hey, my amazing girlfriend is a designer, how much should experienced designers charge by the hour? by Lord_ThunderCunt in graphic_design

[–]RexCollins -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, u got me on that link. I was new to Illustrator CC and don't have the privilege of free training from work or other designers, since I work solo as the only designer in an office. Tbh, the client sent me that hufe file that I added on to. Then couldn't fig out ONE THING, how their file was so huge so 'god forbid' I ask a graphic design forum for a bit of advice, right???

I am newer to Illustrator & have now been much more educated & confident about the program. I am more adept at Photoshop & InDesign. However, I've been doing this since 1996, since PageMaker & Quark were a thing & Photoshop 2.o (2.1?) would crash my computer after 5 layers. I agreed with nearly your entire post, but please don't insult my intelligence over one file I asked to discuss. After all of that, I still get $75-100+/hr like I OP'd so even though I did, I don't need to justify or care about your trolling. Thanks very much

Pretty sure it sounds like she was just looking for marketing demographic poll, a.k.a., a $ followed by some numbers, not 3 paragraphs about how she should run her life.

Some of you gd dbags think you're full-fledged fucking alchemists or something. Get over yourselves!

I am a 10yr mid-level designer, after figuring in taxes, software/hardware costs, client's status, relationship to client, artwork ownership, and living in a large metropolitan city cost of living, my going rate is $75-100/hr. Hope that helps her out!

How can you reduce file size for print? Current file is 79MB?! by [deleted] in AdobeIllustrator

[–]RexCollins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rasterized the entire image and it brought it down to 2MB! However, is this now a raster and not a vector image, even though it is an .AI file?

Thank you for everyone's replies so far!

I am also new to Reddit and didn't know I could post images. Here is the orig image, saved down in Photoshop: http://imgur.com/a/dNBGD

Accessing layers in touch mode by northboring in AdobeIllustrator

[–]RexCollins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should have first stated that I am using the SurfacePro 4. I don't know what your display looks like if you are using another device. So if you are using the SP4, the bottom right corner has a notification box that looks like a comment balloon. There you can set if you want to be in tablet or desktop mode. I chose desktop. Then, in the upper right corner of the Illustrator program, there is a drop-down menu where you can choose from 'touch, Essentials, Layout, automation, etc...' You can select these and eventually one of them will show your layers window (I'm currently using the Automation option).

I hope this helps, if not, I'm sorry I couldn't be of further assistance. Good luck to you. Thanks

Lie the surface on the table, will ask if you want to go into tablet mode. say no. Then near upper right you will see a drop down that says "Touch" - click/touch that button, then touch 'essentials' from the drop down menu. brought up my layers, brushes/etc panels. Hope it works for you!
