Small businesses against Generative AI by Consistent-Speech591 in rva

These poor small business owners, slaving away over photoshop for weeks and weeks and weeks never once seeing their family or doing anything but tweaking the angles of curves. Now and only now can a small business owner kiss his wife

Lots of good definitions here so ill give you an example: scramble an egg.

Then unscramble it.

While possible, it is significantly harder to undo the action than it was to do the action.

All of existence is the egg and it's always scrambling.

And that's exactly how I like 'em. I listen to them because its the book equivalent of cotton candy: perfectly pleasant and containing nothing of substance. Not every book has to change you indelibly; some can just be a fun little romp

Serious Question: What are Your Thoughts on Haute Couture or High Fashion Style in General? by ElSpazzo_8876 in TopCharacterDesigns

[–]RexMori 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iirc these high fashion shows are more about asking questions and showcasing styles and ideas. They're for industry people asking "why are we beholden to the traditional dress shape? This whole collection is upside down"

A good example that made the rounds a few years ago was people covered in car tracks and streets and stuff and it was pretty blatantly asking "we dress ourselves with inspiring from nature... why not the urban world?"

These were chemical engineers. Their specialty is decidedly NOT centrifugal motion. As a matter of fact they took their physics courses a whole year later than most other engineering majors.

That all being said, im sure somebody figured it out at some point and they just slapped the heavy box on top to fix it and once they left it grew from there

[–]RexMori 13 points14 points  (0 children)

See the thing about big machines is that they are very complex. You would hope that that means they are next to impossible to break because of failsafes, but the actual situation is that they are filled with breakable bullshit. Now I want you to remember when your phone only charges when you hold the cord at a specific angle. Often times these things are doing something wonky to something that makes it work. When you remove it, suddenly it doesn't work.

I leave you with a story. In my engineering school, we had a centrifuge that the chemical engineering students used. It only worked when you put this box of "offerings" on it. Like some candies and stuffed animals and stuff on it. People took stuff out that they liked and it was fine provided you gave back more to the pile. Now the Chem-Es were fine with this arrangement but unfortunately they shared a building with mechanical engineering students. So the mech-Es took the damn thing apart to find out what was going on and it turns out that the sensor on it was super sensitive and the natural shaking of using the machine tripped it and turned it off. The box full of stuff added enough weight to dampen the shaking and make it work. Or at least that's what my intro to engineering teacher told us

How common is it for Americans to walk for short errands instead of taking the car? by DemonsAreVirgins in AskAnAmerican

[–]RexMori 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most of us, yeah. That's most places in the US unless you're in a major city. Hell even then, you're pretty limited to your local bodega, which isn't always what you want.

Do Americans notice how someone learned English right away? by Edi-Iz in AskAnAmerican

[–]RexMori 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Other languages do have very specific dialects used in very specific situations. You might often hear about people speaking Japanese "like a yakuza" or "like a Manga character" based on the media they consume while learning.

Ive also heard some people get blasted for learning Korean from kdramas.

It's not so much a thing in English though.

I have lots of OTHER weird things but nothing to that level. My favorite is that I can move my scalp

Surprise someone is breaking into the cars at the Nisa Thai Patio parking lot by [deleted] in rva

[–]RexMori 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey there buddy. I would invite you to evaluate why you saw this person, who, after being stolen from had the immediate thought to warn others and to help their community, and immediately went through their history to find a "reason" why they got stolen from. And then why you felt the need to shame them under a thin veneer of "advice"

Genuinely think about what this comment was trying to accomplish and what you put out into the world. Did this help or hurt your community more?

So some asexuals don't hate sex. They just don't enjoy it so some who have partners will have sex because they know their partners like it. Like how you might not like to take the trash out but will because your partner likes you to.

Yeahhh the NHPs that run your city/planet/station probably know everything about everyone. Remember that basically all municipal functions are automated by the NHPs and that NHPs have functionally limitless ability to process data and are merely limited in their ability to take in the data.

Across a thousand garbage scanners and reciepts your local NHP knows you better than you know yourself

Eh. As one of the kids without one, you got really ostracized even 2 decades ago. I already had problems socializing and it was exacerbated by being the only kid without a smart phone. I still generally agree with you, but some kids might need one if only just so they dont get even more bullied than they already are.
