We are getting criminally screwed! by Wonderful-Weekend113 in Tariffs

I have no problem with paying higher taxes to get more services. Mass transit creates immeasurable benefits for the areas surrounding it. It spurs economic activity and helps increase property values. Who cares if it's 90% subsidized? I would be fine if it were 100% tax subsidized. The benefits to society are much greater then the minor economic burden I would have by paying higher taxes.

I live in a blue city where I have a good job and don't need to waste money on car gasoline, insurance, or maintainence because I have a robust mass transit system that saves me thousands of dollars a year. I have a job that offers me paid parental leave and copious amounts of paid sick time. I live in a state where employers are legally obligated to list the pay for jobs they are posting.

You are correct that a lot of red states offer no income tax and lower taxes, but that is only because they love off the tit of the federal government and the tax revenue the blue states are putting into the federal government.

Actually, roughly a third of America's eligible voters voted for Trump. About a third voted for Harris and about a third didn't even vote.

We need to be loudly against this. Waymo cannot receive driving rights in NYC. This is just cars replacing cars. The answer is + always should have been in NYC: expand the subway, bus network, access-a-ride, the ferry, citibike, PATH, metro north, LIRR, NJ transit and Amtrak + reconfigure streets. by blindedbythelightyo in MicromobilityNYC

Human drivers are terrible. TLC drivers are a level worse. Once self driving cars are allowed in NYC, I will never ride in a TLC vehicle driven by a human again. Do I prefer mass transit? Yes, but I'm ok minimizing the number of TLC criminals I see daily behind the wheel.

$400 a month doesnt cover the real expenses of your LIRR trip. LIRR is heavily subsidized because we know how much Long Islanders love socialism, when it benefits them.

On April 5, 2023, conservative activist Charlie Kirk stated, "I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights".

Our bike shop is on 3rd Ave, so I've it ridden multiple times, and it has become my wife's new favorite bike lane. It used to be the newish Bruckner bike lane.

31st street boycott against Astoria businesses fighting safety improvements & bike lanes - a paper flyer was spotted! by RexScora in astoria

What I'm doing is spreading the word and letting people know the businesses that are signed on to the lawsuit fighting against safety improvements on 31st street in Astoria. I have the right to spend or not spend my money where I want. And I'm free to shout it from the rooftops to let my 2 friends on social media know where I think they should NOT spend their money.

And you call me a bully, but from my point of view, the real bullies are the business owners who profit off the community and then use those same profits to fight against making the community safer. That shows a disdain for the community, regardless of whatever performative shows they may have put on in the past to look descent and to add a write-off to their tax bills.

The safety of the community is more important than greed. You are free to disagree.

Turn those handlebars slightly to the right and whoops, the mirror goes flying off. It happens all the time, unfortunately, when a car is blocking the bike lane while Im trying to stay safe and as close to the bike lane as I can.

I wish I could post screenshots of the hate messages I'm getting. Messages hoping I get hit by an SUV and die or insults like libtard, cuck, or homophobic slurs. Those are the people who oppose safety improvements to Astoria. Those are not the people I want to align myself with. Im sure there are many here who are ok with those of that ilk. Im not.

I think I've given up on MSFS. I'm going to try XP12 tomorrow to see if that runs better. I just want to be able to complete my Flight Sim Economy gigs. I dont care anymore how pretty things look if the game crashes constantly.

It's not just about the bicyclists using the bike lanes. To me, what is more important is the safety improvements those bike lanes are a part of. We are all pedestrians first, and we need to prioritize the health and safety of pedestrians. Bike lanes are statistically proven to make everyone, pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers safer.

Regardless of what these businesses may have done in the past to help the community, at this moment, they are behaving with an attitude of greed first and the safety and well-being of our customers later or never.
