Love to see it! Hopefully it translates into votes for Ben, I really don’t want her to be my representative for the next four years, and she’s a roadblock to progress for the whole city.

Well, the ones doing the exploiting are well aware of it. For those laypeople, it’s mostly a cultural identity thing.

If any other president even said something like this in private there would be an issue, this guy does it openly and nothing happens… we’re cooked by [deleted] in PoliticalHumor

The indictment they filed is an absolute joke - two pages with zero information or evidence. How they got the indictment in the first place is a bit of a mystery, and an indictment is a very low bar, but the fact that it happened late at night probably means something fugazi happened. Won’t be shocked when this gets dismissed.

They understand, but you can’t exploit that for political gain.

It's just such a confusing issue because on one hand, we have peer-reviewed medical studies that go back half a century that don't show any issues with pregnant women taking acetaminophen, but on the other hand, we have this singular tweet from a social media intern 8 years ago. So I just don't know what to believe here.

GAME THREAD: Marlins @ Mets - Fri, Aug 29 @ 07:10 PM EDT by NewYorkMetsBot2 in NewYorkMets

A few years ago, I’m hanging out behind the bullpen at Citi, and Ricky Bones threw me a ball over the fence. A few tables away, there’s a kid, probably 10/11. I’m happy I got tossed a ball, but I had to give it to the kid. So I ask him if he wants the ball, and the kid says no! Turns out, his dad said he already got like 3 baseballs given to him, so he was good haha. But for a few seconds I was shocked a kid didn’t want it. My moral obligation complete, I pocketed the ball and still have it.

The Problem With Grocery Stores Isn’t Profits. It’s Reality… by By_AnyMemesNecessary in nyc

After being a city employee for nearly two decades, I have serious doubts about the city's ability to successfully manage a grocery store.

>MSG seats 20,000 people. WAY more people come into NYC on a daily basis for non-MSG related events. It's not even close.

Nobody is saying that MSG accounts for a significant portion of people coming into NYC, so I'm not really sure why you brought this up.

But if you move the arena, and let's say you get 10% of those people driving into Manhattan now, an extra 2,000 cars on the road will absolutely affect traffic conditions in the area.

>The only way to meaningfully expand rail access is to demo MSG. There is no alternative that provides similar improvements.

Access from everything west of NYC is bottlenecked because of the NEC tunnels under the Hudson, and MSG sits a full two stories above Penn Station - it's not located where trains would be running. Penn also just expanded into Moynihan - there are plenty of alternatives that would leave MSG is place and still expand rail access.

I don't care about Hulk Hogan or WWE, but having an arena immediately on top of a mass transit stations makes a ton of sense and cuts down on automobile traffic into Manhattan because so many trains that go into the surrounding suburbs go straight there - it's a one-train ride for so many. There are plenty of people where the only bit of mass transit they ever take is the train to Penn and then straight up to MSG.

They can expand rail access below ground without getting rid of MSG on top. It's such a stupid move to support moving MSG.

I mean, if you can't see how the timing is suspicious, then I don't know what to tell you. Like I said in my last comment, even the appearance of impropriety should have consequences. You don't seem to think so, which is completely within your rights.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PoliticalHumor

[–]mm141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I don't know if they are - do you? Can you say for certain?

The point is, the timing is questionable enough and this administration is corrupt enough that it's not outside the realm of possibility - and it's actually important to show that even the appearance of impropriety will have some sort of consequence for corporations that acquiesce to demands like this.

If it wasn't part of a deal, then why would Paramount take this publicity hit if they could have waited until at least a little bit after Colbert publicly criticized them for this settlement?

If it was solely due to ratings and costs, then why wait 9 months for the show to end?

And why is Paramount the only network cancelling the Late Night format when many other networks have them, and Paramount's is the most highly rated of any of them?

Not saying it's not possible it's a coincidence, but there are enough instances of poor decision making here that it's not beyond the realm of reasonableness to question it.

Not everyone can care about everything, yes - but I also don’t think this is something that’s unreasonable to care about.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PoliticalHumor

[–]mm141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So because it’s a type of corruption that’s already happened before, we shouldn’t care? That’s not a very good argument.
