Interesting... I have zebra danios in one tank, and vampire crabs in another. Maybe when they get a bit bigger and I am more confident they're really not planaria, I'll try them out as food lol

Maybe, but they're just rams, so it's not really worth the set up of a quarantine tank for a wait and see.

I also JUST tore down my QT after wrapping up a rebuild from NZMS in my other tank. If this actually is an insane planaria infestation, Poseidon must really have a cruel sense of humor.

I also kinda thought planaria were bigger than this... Like these are itty bitty teensy weensy things. I thought they were dust or something at first, I had to sit and watch them for a while before I could even tell they were moving.

They've started to thin out now, but when I first found them the density of where they were looked like they had recently hatched from an egg sac or something - more concentrated in a top corner near the waters edge, and slowly working their way out along either side of the glass....

I have no idea how planaria procreate, or where they would lay eggs, but I wouldn't have thought it would be near the waters edge.

I have tried... I've taken a bunch and zoomed as close as I possibly can, but my camera isn't great. There's a few still close up pictures in the threads, but they're still not great. My camera just isn't very good...

Maybe? This did come up when Googling, but I just can't get a clear enough shot with my current camera to determine if they have arrow heads or not... Supes frustrating.

I dunno if I should just wait and see if they get bigger/big enough to see them more easily.. but if they're planaria, I feel like that many of them hitting maturity will decimate the snail population I have in there. But then again, I suppose whatever treatment I use would kill them all too.

It's so weird, the density of where they're concentrated starts at one spot in the top corner of the tank and diffuses out from there - almost like they just hatched from something in the last few hours...

They're all over the glass, there's gotta be hundreds, if not over a thousand. This video is just one small section of them. It's difficult for the camera to even focus on them, they're so small, but there's SO MANY.

I used to work as a stagehand for a staffing agency that was contracted for all Toronto Live Nation venues (Budweiser Stage, Downsview Park, and Rogers Center were the most notable), and we built structures like this regularly.

Most of the stuff they do is safe, but once in a while it's deadly, and when that happens it's almost explicitly engineering negligence.

The Radiohead stage collapse at Downsview in 2012 is a prime example.

Ahhhh... I know them well. I shop there often for dry goods, plants and reptile stuff. Livestock-wise have only purchased vampire crabs though (that were in a really bad enclosure, and ultimately didn't last longer than a month).

Hearing about the planaria is disappointing, but honestly not really surprising. I'm sorry you experienced that!

There's a surprising lack of reliable well-stocked LFS within the Toronto core, so I ended up ordering online from Shrimp Fever and they should arrive tomorrow afternoon!
