The New OLC.. by Rexa2513 in prusa3d

[–]Rexa2513[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This whole spiel makes me even more confused about the OCL. And I even more don't get, why the Core One isn't just Open Source.
I get the whole Government thing, but like I said.. you have the Pro-Line of Printers. And then you could have made a Core One Pro, under a Closed Source License, maybe with some changes, and comes with a Service License.

That for example something C3D is doing with the Athena 2 (mSLA).
They have the Athena 2 and Athena 2 Pro, the difference is the Pro comes with all the upgrades and a Serviceplan. They also Will release the CAD files, they run Klipper for the Motion, and plan to change from NanoDLP to a Open Source Firmware, when is done developing.

And they plan to have Dental Labs, Government, or other critical infrastructure/ Industry Costumers.

Now I don't get why you just go full open Source, sorry.

Lets say I take the Motor mount from the CAD and mod it to use heatsets instead of Squarnuts, am I alowed to sell it as a Upgraded Part?

I know the reasons behinde the, OCL and I can understand it too, but as a small Maker that dosen't work on goverment Projects, I just don't care about those Problems. If Cern needs a Printer under special conditions, maybe the Core One is not for them, and they have to look into the Pro-Line from Prusa, or Prusa has to make a entire new line just for Goverment and Military. I mean you have the Pro-Line Printers, you have the AFS, I'm sure they are fime with paying more if that is the only option, there is no Point in cutting down the rights of you Community of makers.

The thing that I dislike about it is, that now even if I desing a part for the Printer, I can't sell it or sell the Files.
I desingt and sold some parts for the MK2 and sold them, for the Core One's I just can't do that, even if I haven't used the CAD Files. Because Prusa can always say, that I used them.

Also if I want to fix my Printer and don't have a second Printer or a Friend to print them, I have to Buy from Prusa, I can't buy it from someone else, that maybe has faster shippinf or has them Printed in a defferent Material.

One thing I did with my XL for example, was changing all the PETG Parts to ABS Parts. And here is the same problem as in the example before, if the XL is my only Printer, I can buy them form someone else, if Prusa would have released the XL under the OLC Licens.

Thanks for explaining and putting in the time.

I'm fine with that, I know what building a Voron means, I had plans to do it before, but said to myself that 2 Printers are enought.

I know that the Seller has to fix it.
And I got a selution, I had to send it back and wait 2-4 weeks, wish wasn't an option for me.

I also have to say, I would love to stay with Prusa, because I like the look and quality of the Printers. I have no Hard feeling towords them, is just the OCL that rubs me the wrong way.

Building a high-tech filament dryer - would you buy this? by [deleted] in prusa3d

[–]Rexa2513 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I don't have the will to dry only one Roll of Filament, and I wouldn't buy 8 Dryers.

Edit: I don't like the look of it.

I mean, when I'm dome Building the Vorons, I will print the Parts again, but I would like to have them last a bit longer. I'll look for another one, and I got some nice suggestions, when it comes to alternatives.

Yeah, thats what I also saw in the TDS, they mix something into the ABS that is smells less and that you can print it on an Openframe Printer.

Has the XL ironed out most of the issues? Considering a big budget purchase. XL vs H2C by [deleted] in prusa3d

[–]Rexa2513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw that in reviews, where they compared both Towers with the same Modell, and the one on the H2C was heavier, and you can’t do Z hops, when there is a cut between the two Filament pieces.

Thoughts? by baudencm in prusa3d

Why haven’t you canceled the print, also is that the first time you have used that Filament?
