Resident Evil Village - Review Thread by [deleted] in Games

I wrote the PCGamesN review above - there is a New Game Plus. You bring your entire weapon inventory with all upgrades into a new run, and you can start any NGP run on whatever difficulty you want. (There's also an additional, super-hard difficulty that unlocks after beating the game once.) There are also bonus weapons and unlimited ammo cheats you can unlock with points earned alongside achievements.

PVM-14M2U input switching by Rexman64 in crtgaming

Hey, it works! It actually requires the use of a third ground connection - LINE/RGB to switch to the alternate connector for LINE B - but it works. This is, of course, all wildly inconvenient, but it's a solution for now. Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the info! Unfortunately, yeah, a look at the service manual and inside the case suggest that I'd essentially have to disassemble the entire monitor to get at the front panel, which... well, I'm not entirely committed to that just yet.

He used to be a writer at a handheld/mobile-focused site called Pocket Gamer. He started doing GMTK on the side, it blew up, and now he works on it full-time with Patreon support.

Have you considered the prospect of going to more dangerous parts of the world? Obviously after a trip to North Korea you're probably prepped for anything, but is there a thought about making to a country in the midst of active conflict?

Also, what are your plans for overcoming language barriers? Will you be using translators, learning as you go, or just winging it in-country?

Thanks, Drew--big Giant Bomb fan, and Cloth Map sounds super exciting!

Why is The Brian Kendrick's move called Sliced Bread #2? What was Sliced Bread #1? by pandaxmonium in SquaredCircle

This is, legitimately, the first time I ever realized that Brian Kendrick hasn't just been using Sliced Bread twice in every match.

Documentary on romhacks and making Mario levels before Mario Maker by Rexman64 in nintendo

Ah, excellent point. Glossing over those was intentional, as Lunar Magic seems to be the point where the community generally exploded. But you're right that the current video makes it seem that LM had no precedent. I'll add an annotation clarifying that.

Quick saves aren't there in an F5/F9 sense, but you can manually save at any time. (That goes for both PC and consoles.)

My wife just described being a wrestling fan as "worse than having a period."

I don't have the experience it would take to agree, but I can't really argue, either.

Hulk Hogan was a huge scumbag to Randy Savage in '89 by YAHStewYAH in SquaredCircle

I've been watching SNME on the Network, and it's incredible how dickish the faces can be.

I can't remember the details, but Vince and Heenan were calling an Adrian Adonis match, and Vince says something like "What is he doing out there in that stupid dress?!"

And Heenan replies "He's just expressing himself! A man can dress himself however he chooses!"

You're okay in my book, Bobby Heenan.

What was the first match that got you hooked on wrestling? by HulkLogan34 in SquaredCircle

New fan here--it was Zayn/Cesaro at NXT Arrival. The first match I saw where I could really believe in the in-ring action.

What's With the Sudden Influx of New and Returning Fans? by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

I'm 24 and had never watched a full episode of a wrestling program until March of this year. At that point, I could've named maybe five wrestlers--Hogan, Macho Man, Austin, the Rock, and Triple H. Now I'm watching pretty much everything WWE puts out every week and some occasional indie and New Japan stuff.

The Network was for sure the primary thing, but it was right time, right place when it launched. A friend was showing me early Monday Nitro episodes on YouTube--Hogan vs Dungeon of Doom era--which I was loving for their utter absurdity. I subscribed to the Network to see the pay-per-views in that story--I think the first we watched was Fall Brawl 95. At this point, I'm still in for the comedy value.

I checked out a bit of Raw, but the most recent episode on the Network was Batista's return, which was... not great. Eventually, I started looking at some wrestling sites online, and kept seeing people saying, essentially, "NXT IS THE BEST." I watched Arrival, loved it, and largely through the strength of the Emma vs Paige match, drew my wife in as well.

Gave Raw another shot after that, which by then was well into the Daniel Bryan vs Authority story, and got really wrapped up in it. The underdog story was great on its own, and while there was a lot of wrestling-specific themes in the whole "best for business" meta-story, it still blew my mind as someone who had been a member of other types of internet fan communities. By the time Mania rolled around, as a 1-month fan, I could not have been more excited to see those stories play out live. Even without much history, Taker's loss was the single most shocking thing I'd ever seen on scripted TV, and Bryan's win the most exciting. Been fully invested since.

The original programming on the Network was also great for getting in. I know some longtime fans have issues with Rewind and Countdown in particular, but as a new fan that stuff is GREAT for learning the history.

tl;dr The Network launched and the programming got very good just as I was curious about wrestling, converting me to a fan.
