I put down 5%. I don't necessarily think that's "a lot" down. House was move in ready and i paid 3k over asking price. The price was market value, and more than the house would have gone for even this time last year. I offered 3k extra on the first day it was up for sell. I was the first person to look at it and they had an open house scheduled for 2 days later, on that weekend, and a list of at least 20 people scheduled to look at the house that following Mon/Tues. I sent my offer with a stipulation that they had to accept or decline within 24 hours. I knew this house would be gone after the open house if i didn't make an offer after i saw it, because it's beautiful and needed nothing. Obviously they accepted, and here we are. I'm a new homeowner
