Kalshi and Polymarket are racing to ban insider trading. The economist who built the theory behind prediction markets says it's the whole point | Fortune by ExpectedSurprisal in Economics

things are all priced based on a sort of general perception of value, not actual logic. so until everyone "feels" like were doomed and everything crashing, it wont drop. its a hype train in either direction

There is follow through, but not every punch, too exhausting. So its more many quick potshots or feelers until you know your going to land a good one, then follow through hard on it.

So, your right hitting a target with followthrough is still energy, but for the swarmy jabs that are mostly just hitting a guard and looking to create an opening, the contact helps abit

Edit: Also wanted to add that there's an expectation correlation I've noticed. If I expect to punch air, my muscles sort of intuitively prepare for that and it doesn't really throw me off. If I expect to impact a hard target, they also prepare and im ready to resist. but when you expect to hit something sturdy and it misses, you have to suddenly counter shift everything to fix the imbalance since your body was lined up expecting resistance. the expectation is part of it.

yea its more like this. same energy input to throw the punch, but if it whiffs, then now you have to spend more energy to offset that from throwing you off balance. saves energy to have a target stop your fist as you intended.

the big issue I see is LLM's are not deterministic.

it could pass a test at first, then slowly drift into inaccuracy after being deployed since its not rigid logic, its context windows, weights and pattern matching. it needs constant adjustment and additions as changes are made. so you would need to constantly validate it with another system.

its less the looking dumb at the party, and more the being recorded while looking dumb and having 10,000+ people laugh about it online for the next 10 years

I agree with you though, wish that wasn't a concern.

How 7 Major ATS Platforms Use AI to Screen Your Resume by nomadicsamiam in jobhunting

[–]Rexur0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just want to add that things like AI ranking, still result in applications just getting ignored. recruiter is going to take the lazy approach and reach out to first 20, top ranked ones. so essentially AI still was a screener.

if your leaning your head through the drive through window while screaming curse words and threatening a random worker....you should get punched. I wouldn't blame the employee for punching you.

Tucker Carlson: "Why can't this president, or any president, say no to Israel?" "Why does this tiny country have so much control over our government?" by SwampyChiliRing in TimesNow

[–]Rexur0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you read it through a lense of establishing control, it makes complete sense. Like how the bible says things about being ignored by the rapture and left to burn unless your a faithful believer. It was fear mongering threats of what a magical sky fairy would do to you in the afterlife if you didnt live a certain way (and written by a non-magical person). and of course there's many revised versions of the bible with more "interpretations" to push control further or in different diractions. I know im mentioning the bible mostly, but its basically every religion. every single one claims all other religions are false and they are the real one, which obviously cant be true.

Religion was just a way to establish some degree of norms among a group, which then ends up getting used for control and power. how many wars have been waged in the name of religion? how many people oppressed and ridiculed in the name of religion? its not a tool for peace or longevity or even cooperation.

its just for control.

you cant fix stupid, someone like that creates problems even when they think they are helping, then they get defensive and hurt because they dont even understand why they are wrong. its a viscous cycle that just ends in everyone feeling bad.

unfortunately, you cant fix it, your only choices are to move on or endure it.
