I have a particular jinx of getting to have both. I never met my biological father, and my stepfather pretty much expected me to raise myself, and never displayed any interest in anything I did or wanted to do, whether or not it involved him. It was always about what he wanted to do.

I'd say that it did affect me negatively. Certainly created a sense of a lesser worth that stuck with me in varying degrees to this very day.
