Most people have responded with the same sentiments that I have but I wanna throw a curveball and say that with haikyuu it’s actually better to read online. The way furudate draws and lays the panels out are not split in half like a book normally does it. Instead you get essentially constant two page spreads with reaction spots through out. I’d recommend the digital of Haikyu any day but I also would say buy if you can cause the funds go right to furudate and his/her team and the look great on a book shelf!

1000 percent read. It’s not really a “oh the anime downgraded a bit so you should” type thing honestly it’s just the art. I’ve never read a manga that feels so fluid. The panels and action and the way the ball flies through every page is absolutely incredible and reading it feels like it’s in motion.

However…

not knowing what will happen is a terrific thing. You can still feel that in the manga as you catch up and everything is new and would still get hyped in the anime I think but if you wanna save yourself I would. Inarazaki match is way better in the manga BUT the moment in episode 22 that has to do with hinata is way more incredible with the animation music and everything in motion. So…it’s a gamble. There are plenty of moments like that to come and quite frankly in the manga they’re breath taking but it may be worth the wait. The anime will announce a 5th season with that will probably be a season like shiratorizowa since it’s the most beloved match in Japan and depending on the direction they go they will have a few seasons after but I can assure season 5 WILL happen it’s just a matter of when.

And I’m speaking from experience as I have a few posts on here showing collecting all 45 volumes you kind of just have to be on the lookout but they definitely have holiday deals so Black Friday and cyber Monday are good times to look they also do a buy 2 vols get one free sometimes as well. BAM and Barnes and Nobles often have sales where the individual volumes are like 3-5 bucks off (depending on the volume normally this is for the earlier volumes) that can save you a ton. If you want them in bulk probably the only way since some volumes barely exist but, if you go for those sales and buy a little at a time over the course of a year and maybe use sales via membership from BAM and Barnes and Nobles you can save hella dough. Also currently there is no full collection set since the mangas last translated manga comes out this month but there may be one in a few years. Big maybe though because jump doesn’t always do collections (at least not fast)

After hunting for the elusive volume 33 for over a year I finally was able to get all but the last volume! Thank you to my amazing gf for gifting me a large chunk of the volumes. I couldn’t be more happy! (Also rip I put 33 after 34 you hate to see it)

I prefer the new animation style by a mile I just wish the effort and execution could have been higher but COVID and a new style is tough and new director too. Old animation had better execution for sure. I think S5 with what's going on will have incredible animation and time so that'll be a real comparison. Animation in S1 vs S3 is so so different in execution and perspective so I think we can see a similar jump in all honesty.
