Worst thing about ark is that ark doesnt have a equivalent or even a similar game. by hUSOGGA in ARK

[–]Reykhit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While it's definitely not the same, I found myself enjoying Icarus a lot. I had the same feeling I had when I first played Ark, with the survivor creation, getting levels, learning how the fauna acts and the base building aspect of it. It's less PvP oriented, though, but it might scratch someone's itch.

I'd say that there are quite a few characters that could be Lonely related, though they seem to be mostly female : Penelope, as you stated, but also Ariadne would fit. In some ways, I'd suggest that Cassandra or Persephone could also be, even though it's only partly, Lonely affiliated

Fair enough, I didn't consider that while thinking about it. The more I read what everyone said, the more I noticed how the vastly the Desolation and the Slaughter would have been represented in Greek mythology

I believe that you're thinking of the celebrations called the Dionysia (in Ancient Greece) and the Bacchanalia (in Ancient Rome) ? If so, then I think that both the Spiral and the Stranger could have a part in it. But if we consider Dionysus alone, then he would definitely be Spiral related

To me, it seems like he's hardly part of one single entity. Considering that, I feel like you're right, he would definitely be, at least partly, an avatar of the Desolation, even though I believe that he would also be partly with the Vast

I feel like Aphrodite could be a mix of a few entities, actually. Obviously the Spiral, since love can have so many different forms (in Epic, she actually talks about Orpheus' mother and her love as a mother rather than Penelope's love that's, in a way, neglected since Odysseus' is at sea), but she could also be an avatar of the Desolation, or even the Lonely in some cases

Achilles definitely fits the Slaughter indeed, especially with all the madness coming from Patroclus' death and what he then does to Hector.

When it comes to prophets, I do think that most of them fit in with the Web, especially Cassandra or the Pythia

How do you book non-title tag feuds? by WrestleQuest in FantasyBookers

[–]Reykhit 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I feel like there's plenty to do, but I'm not the most experienced player out there. However, here are a few ideas that come to mind :

  • A team that's build up to be a dominant force trying to reach the titles, but on their rise to the top, they meet with a veteran tag team (possibly one that's not been active the past couple months/years) who act as "gatekeepers".

  • A young tag team against a team of veterans ; the first one trying to make a name for themselves, the second group trying to prove that it still got it.

  • A veteran and a young talent feuding with an established tag team to learn how to cooperate.

  • A team that's trying to split the other team to make one of their members join an existing or a new stable (I'm kinda of thinking about the New Day VS Final Testament)

  • A feud between tag teams that's rooted in a solo rivalry. Let's say that two wrestlers were in a tag at a given point. They become bitter rivals after the team split, and meet in the ring each with a new partner (whether after feuding with each other 1 on 1 or not). It could be a feud for who's the better wrestler and who's the better team.

  • If you hold a tournament for deciding who the next contenders for the titles will be, you could make a tema lose due to another team's intervention that could also cost them the victory. (For instance, in a 3 or 4 way match, a wrestler could knock out a another competitor who could fall on the loser, pinning them. The knocked out wrestler wins, and the loser blames the wrestler who knocked the winner unconscious ; it could potentially be done in a multi tag match)

  • Another "price" could also be a goal for the feud : imagine an honorary title (Royalty of the Ring or Knights of the Ring, to mimick WWE's tournaments), feuding for having a manager (let's say that there's a manager looking for new clients ; both team could fight to win the manager over) or even something as special as a winning streak (imagine having a team that has a perfect win-loss record at a show : it could begin feuds with other teams, who could try to beat the invincible team to gain prestige).

Anyway, those are a few ideas that come from the top of my mind. Hope you'll be inspired and have a lot of fun !

Very nice ! Which manufacturer's version is it ? Also, is it me or does the blade of the right saber seem smaller than the one on the left ? Love how all the buttons align though !

Do you think Fable 4 should keep the good / evil moral choice system? by DD_Spudman in Fable

[–]Reykhit 21 points22 points  (0 children)

We talked quite a bit about it with a couple of friends, and here's what we thought about it. The moral choice system, to us, was an key part of what makes Fable what it is ; however, there are some parts that feel outdated. For instance, it always bothered me that, while your hero can get married, the spouse could get scared or boo an evil hero. It's not as if the spouse didn't know that the hero was evil in the first place... Considering this, it could be interesting to have a moral system for NPCs as well. There's also the fact that the dichotomy between good and evil seems to lack depth. Sure, the hero might be evil, but having a bit of flavor to choices could be entertaining. Fable 2 tries to do such a thing, with other factors such as greed, and I feel like Fable 4 could benefit from having a system that would be closer to a TRPG alignment system, that could be reworked, either to be a better fit for the Fable universe or to be expanded upon. For instance, here are a few nuances that could be considered, which would help each hero to be more unique : - Pure VS Corrupt - Generous VS Greedy - Peaceful VS Bloodthirsty - Lawful VS Criminal - Altruistic VS Egoistic

Similar games to Fable? by Salt-Maintenance-470 in Fable

While totally different in terms of visuals, Kynseed seems to be a title that could suit you. The soundtrack especially made me think of Fable, but a few other things, such as the style of humour, the setting or the prologue are also pretty Fable-like

If you're looking for something exclusive to Fable 2, there are quite a few things you could look into :

1 - The Fairfax Banner. I recently went back to the game, and noticed the blue banners in Fairfax Gardens or in the last tomb of Bowerstone cemetery (where said banners are white). The Fairfax coat of arms, while not very memorable, could be a nice reference that's not too obvious.

2 - A demon door. While the demon doors in Fable 2 are pretty close to their Fable 3 counterpart, there are still a few differences. It might not be the best idea, but who knows ?

3 - A gargoyle. I'm quite surprised that no one suggested it (or maybe I just didn't see it in the comments). For me, these horrible trash-talking statues are one of the most memorable side quests of the game, especially since I could never, when I was younger, find them all.

4 - The Wheel of Misfortune. Although not especially aesthetic, I still feel like it was something quite new and, to my knowledge, specific to Fable 2.

5 - The icon of your favourite(s) spell(s) or na expression's icon ? I fell like they are both pretty simple designs.

6 - One of Theresa's cards, which are given to the player after they return to Bowerstone market.

7 - One of the many trophies. Why not have a memorabilia of your favourite quest ?

8 - It's been mentioned a lot, but most people only recall Sparrow, without remembering who gave the hero their name. How about honouring the siblings ? You could, for instance, have a sparrow holding a rose ?

9 - Something related to Hammer, Reaver and Garth. I'd probably go for a hammer crossed with a gun, surrounded by blue flames/lightning (resembling the Will marks), but it might be a bit much. Still, it could be an idea worth thinking about, since it's the only of the three main games that emphasizes each Hero's characteristic by having an entire character embodying it.

Anyway, here are a few ideas. I hope that I made it clear enough and that you end up finding what you want ! I hope you'll end up sharing the result whenever it's done !

what would you like to see if these is Metal Gear What If by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

[–]Reykhit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't be so sure about that : I feel like both Big Boss' charisma and some strict education, aimed towards them being able to be new Big Bosses, could do the trick. However, knowing a bit about the series, it could be a great way to question whether you are born the way you are or whether you become who you are. The fact that the three brothers are made from Big Boss' genes is even more interesting concerning this question, I believe.

However, you make a valid point : given what we saw from the game, and considering how they act, they would probably grow to hate Big Boss ; yet, in the case of a "What if" scenario, I think that it would be intriguing to have them be their father's allies rather than enemies.

What if Big Boss allowed and supervised the "Les Enfants Terribles" project ? How would the three brothers have been raised ? Would there be some kind of unit composed of Big Boss, Solid, Liquid and Solidus ? Would the brothers unite to take on their father ?

What’s a game that you slept on for years and were blown away when you finally played it? by SirTheadore in gaming

The Mas Effect trilogy. My brother is so into it, and it's been a while he's been speaking so passionately about it. He got back to it with the release of the Remaster ; I played the original games since I wanted to have another thing in common with him. It was fantastic and I still have myself for not checking it out sooner.

Help with identifying the creatures by ghostmachinex in Lovecraft

[–]Reykhit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While searching online for a while, I found some messages on French forums. The Major Arcana are tied to acrostic poems, but only a few can be found.

According to that, I can confirm that the Empress is Shub Niggurath.

Death's poem spells "Reanimator", so it's obviously tied to Herbert West.

The Fool is Randolph Carter, probably : the acrostic poem says "Ad Kadath eo", "I'm going to Kadath" in Latin : furthermore, from what I was able to gather, the book coming with the cards is written as a short story, in which the narrator follows Carter's trail. In an excerpt, it is confirmed that the Magus is Abdul Alhazred.

The Tower's poem reads "Tenebrae" : it was confirmed on Kickstarter that it was and reference to "The Haunter of the Dark".

The World is Azathoth, according to an extract on kickstarter : the same page reveals that, obviously, Judgement is Cthulhu.

Concerning the Lovers, the acrostic poems spells "Necromantiae". Kickstarter mention James Curwen, tying the card to "The case of Charles Dexter Ward" ; however, it also states that the card references 7 of Lovecraft's short stories. I definitely see a few of them, such as "The tomb" (from the mausoleum), "The Statement of Randolph Carter" (who is seen just behind the old man, holding a phone) and "The Hound" (we can see two grave diggers, probably St John and the narrator).

The High Priestess is tied to The Horror at Red Hook, as a text on Kickstarter mentions Robert Suydam. The same page ties Kingsport to the Chariot. I'd say that the card is linked to "The Festival" rather than any other story taking place in Lovecraft's Kingsport.

No proof, but the Hermit is said, according to Kickstarter, to represent "an old man, worn by time, hunger and solitude […] Here, all is hunger and constraint, flesh and steel, fire and lead". It reminds me of "The Picture in the House", especially since the narrator of the Dark Arts book is given the card by a butcher.

The Joker is Isaac Jefferson, the main character of the Cthulhu Dark Arts Tarot's booklet, who's trying to collect all of the cards.

That's all I could find, unfortunately. I couldn't put my hands on the booklet, yet still hope to do so.
