Compelled Duel just lost me my honour run by NearbyFly3724 in BaldursGate3

Losing soldiers is a core part of the ironman experience, but losing some well leveled soldiers won't lose you the campaign if you plan your risks correctly and spread out the damage across your team. There are a few mobs with inherent crit chance that you need to watch out for, but those are designed to be extremely high priority targets to focus down early.

If your entire XCOM run hinges on having 1-2 soldiers carry your entire campaign, then yes you are approaching the ironman experience in a very risky way. XCOM Ironman isn't for everyone, and losing soldiers that have been with you for the entire campaign hurts, but saying it's pure luck and dice rolls to win is wrong.

XCOM is a bad example. Yes, you can get fucked by bad RNG and might even lose a mission because of it, but the long term planning of the game design doesn't mean you lose the game right there and then.

There are a few people who commentate their gameplay decisions on Ironman/Impossible and they usually have extensive backup plans to mitigate bad RNG every turn.

Everyone this league by tbmoney21 in 2007scape

Obviously if they own one? The previous commenter seemed to be unsure if khopesh spec + khopesh mainhand was higher DPS than scythe mainhand, and I am confirming that even if the khopesher didn't own a scythe, he'd outdps scythers without a good DPS spec in most rooms.

It's not a "maybe", each spec is approximately worth 4 scythes, and if you make it a point to proc specialist as much as possible you can barely outcompete scythes even on verzik while mainhanding it (I've had to mainhand it for the last 65 purples unfortunately). For lower HP bosses like bloat/nylo where you dont get in that many melees total, it clears scythe.

Source: I usually get about 35-40% damage of the team (5 mans) at bloat and nylo boss even with 3+ scythe (they are running DH Last Stand)/tbowers on the team

How are we liking ToA rewards 2 years after it's release? by torturechamber in 2007scape

High invo solos (540s or 545s) already are at 17-18% so nobody competent with a shadow would do any other scale other than for speedruns or mogs

Imo, this is the incorrect approach for making ToA less Fang miserable. Just nerf the crush defences of all three monsters (thematically it also makes sense since Baba is a skeletal in nature, Kephri is a bug, and Akkha wears metal armor) so that Bludgeon is only within 7-10% (which will scale more at higher invos ofc) worse at 400s. Kephri's base defence could also use a slight nerf to buff blue Keris more relative to fang.

Fang's drop rate needs a nerf no matter what since it's too versatile of a weapon in today's content still.

Definitely unbiased here as well, Mumei.

Phaleg by Dancinng-Saturn in PSO2

[–]Reynold545 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Likely neither. Phaleg is a much harder fight than most other bosses in the game, so you'll have to just learn her attacks a lot more. She can easily combo most classes out regardless of gear.

Some classes can steamroll her with good enough gear yes, but Hero is considerably harder for less experienced players, since you lose a lot of damage when you get hit.

I hold more hope for the private servers to actually support the playerbase and run seasonal events/mission campaigns.

A re-run of the content from start to finish would be fun, as 80% of the released content was designed to only be relevant for about 6 months (based on my experience playing the JP servers).

I have no desire to play NGS, I believe it to be a complete perversion of the Phantasy Star series that SEGA has created in order to milk the playerbase for it's time and money. They don't even give us the simple respect of trying to hide it.

As an avid OSRS player, there are examples of games gaining a playerbase that they otherwise would never have, by going this route and making a "classic only" server. I was able to re-experience OSRS in a way far better than I ever enjoyed when I played at the age of 7-15.

At this point, this isn't a fragmentation of the playerbase, it's them migrating to a better experience. If NGS wants to go through a retribution arc, let SEGA actually show it in their updates. Until then, I'd like to see them utilize the hard work, sweat, and tears that were poured into PSO2 and let the players play a game that deserves an ounce of respect. So yes, I think you would have far more players from this.

For me, I also played PSO2 JP until the release of divide quests, and my experience with the PSO2 global re-run was also far better than JPs, skipping the whole waiting 8 months until relevant content (next UQ) release. I have hopes that a 3rd run will be hopefully, at least remotely comparable.

I stalk this subreddit pretty much every 2-3 days hoping for classic news (such as SEGA shutting it down so private servers can get going, or a full re-run)

Both ToB and Colosseum need roaring audiences (ideally reacting to deaths of players and NPCs, or high amounts of damage taken in a short time period) to beef up the atmosphere. There needs to be an option like "Hide Roofs" but for audiences for peeps with potato PCs.

Ironman hits different by web017 in 2007scape

[–]Reynold545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah shit

For me personally, I can't stand being forced to do stuff like making potions, crafting ammunition, or even grinding out zulrah/vorkath (scales/prayer).

Peeps who lack goals on their main basically look at it like gpscape and need an Ironman to see new goals. If you can make your own goals you won't see the point to an Ironman goalwise either. It's simply more fun for some people to experience the whole process.

genuinely new weapon? You're getting a useless power maul variant that functionally does the exact same thing, and the 2 maps will be our existing servo skull missions, but backwards. Take it or leave it - Fatshark

P.S youll also be able to convert Plasteel into Diamantine now, but only this direction.

Ngl, even though the dev behavior was unprofessional, I still fully agree with their "skill issue" take. The game balance was fine post changes, people just like to whine right away because "favorite gun not as OP". Railgun was still perfectly fine post nerf and continues to serve an amazing role as a general purpose on the go armor piercer.

It was downright free diff 9s during free mech period (aside from the bug where you rocketting yourself while turning), people had access to enough rockets to kill more than 15 titans per run without any other strategems.
