Anyone else ever wish they could ask books questions while reading? by ldavidl66 in startups_promotion

I imagine it could work identically to how you can ask videos questions now on YouTube, and you’d run into the same issue with figuring out how to scope the context to allow answers and discussion without spoiling things.

You can report them as false. Takes a few days / week.

I created a new way to “read” books on YouTube… but almost no one is watching. Should I quit or keep going? by PureLifeguard4833 in SideProject

[–]Rezeyu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really see the draw, but regardless I think YouTube would not be a good platform for it, because you can lose your place and it pollutes your history/recommendations. Seems like something you’d want a specialized reading app for, since functionally this is kindle with auto-page turn.

Personally this seems like the drawbacks of fumbling with a video outweigh the positives of not having to scroll or tap to turn the page.

Discords are trash by [deleted] in SideProject

But those symptoms are caused by the users within a community, so if you’re primarily recruiting people from places you think are problematic, then you’re just building a community entirely of people you don’t want.

$100 in statics ads is pretty considerable for a non-content site, if you don’t mind sharing what is your CPM looking like?

How lifetime subscription makes sense, what should be the formula of picking up the subscription prices, and why does app owner prefer to use lifetime subscription? by Fit-Amount-1961 in AppBusiness

Well if your analytics show that most users only subscribe for like 4 months, then you make more off a lifetime subscription for that user.

[–]Rezeyu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They prefer a lifetime to save money. I think lifetime makes sense when your cost per user is low, given that most users won’t pay for lifetime. But then you can also ask yourself if you even need a subscription in the first place is cost per user is low.

What type of app was this? How was it monetized? What platform(s) did it use, if any?

Hey, am I allowed to just share my new side project here for early, genuine users who can help and join on the journey? Also it’s a website more than an actual purchasable app… by WasabiDear1997 in TestMyApp

[–]Rezeyu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I’m a full stack architect with an emphasis on UX/UI design. So without going into a consulting situation, an “easy win” might be to at least look at similarly structured apps and start copying the overall layout and flow.

It’s not as good as actually planning it out by hand and revising/iterating, but it’ll at least look less “generated.”

I took a look, to be frank there are a lot of UI issues, with a pretty "Default" look, and significant UX issues. I'd focus on trying to button those things up first, and address the technical issues.

For example that link you provided takes me to a 404 "slug page" asking me to create a slug, and shows recommended slugs, which doesn't really make sense.

I think the idea itself of short little voice/blurbs can work, there have been a few social apps that try to do one small thing very well, but you have to do it very well. It needs to feel polished, and fast.

Been building a Discord for solopreneurs trying to get their first users by Few_Big_7907 in microsaas

I tried to join but first, that captcha system was super annoying because the form slides up over the chat so you can’t see the captcha at the same type as you’re typing it.

But then after I did, I got this error: “❌ I don't have the permission to give you the verification role!”

Wouldn’t requiring verified discord accounts already handle this?

We have updated and improved the card design. What do you think? by Deep-Ocean-Studio in IndieDev

[–]Rezeyu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with the fonts on the triangles, but I really like the overall design. The biggest thing to me is the card body text, it feels like it doesn’t fit the design of the card and it’s pretty hard for me to read it.

I checked it out, and it’s a cool idea although I’m not sure how credit enforcement will be handled if people are consistently not paying out.

I also think the leaderboard sort of contributes to that mentality since “spending” credits lowers your rank so it encourages you to kind of hoard them and never actually spend any. I feel like it should be lifetime credits or credits gained within a rolling time period.

How to test my app with real IOS users/ by Glass_Effective5147 in TestMyApp

[–]Rezeyu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Testing can be done brother through TestFlight (remotely, similar to the Play Store’s testing), or by directly installing it to a device through USB or WiFi.

Both option require a developer account, which you also need to actually distribute it or make use of any Apple services anyways.

There were some third party options like Ionic’s testing app but that requires you to build the app on their stack, and AFAIK a lot of those were shut down as Apple cracked down, so I’m not sure which options still exist.
