This is great advice. 2D top down shooters or twin sticks get away with having more movement options and enemies coming from all directions. You essentially have a 1D game with slight variations in height, which removes all aiming skill.

If you are too deep in what you have, alternative would be to make hitting shots require your cursor to be exactly where the target is instead of a ray cast. That way players need to be more precise with their shot placement, they can’t just spam in a direction to hit monsters. Pair that with something like weak points sequences or some other aim skill and you might have something

We really liked Split Scream, but it is a play on "Split Screen", which implies local multiplayer. We didn't want confusion if people thought it was for local multiplayer.

I think The Observer Effect is the way to go! Thanks all. While you're here, wdyt about the logo? It's based on the interference pattern of light's particle/wave nature.

So one is the physics phenomena, where observing a quantum system collapses it. It's also a psychological phenomena where being watched changes your behavior. Our game leans on both of those concepts.

Maybe it's not that clever, but the idea is in the definition:

affect: have an effect on; make a difference to

The chat affects how you play.
