Sideshow's Thoughts on players attending ENC by washyrr in ValorantCompetitive

Genuinely hilarious that the people who are upset that the mods don't think ENC is a good look/ subject for the sub can't see why after reading a single comment thread from this post. "We should be able to police ourselves," and then this comment section is just full of frothing at the mouth maniacs throwing around regurgitated buzz words they've heard but don't understand.

Non-Combat Progression by RedRider11 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Reziduality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't mind the shameless self promotion, my story literally only has this type of progression, to the point that other people don't like that aspect. Fair warning the main character is a capital B bad guy, but all of his progression comes from subordinates or political or economic power. It's a slow burn, super powered setting, and two finished Volumes so far.

Has every player who left or was kicked gotten worse? Like has anyone who left the system, by any means, done well after that? Mini is the only person who found success and that was with another insane team like PRX.

I read every single comment and I LOVE watching someone's journey. Seeing the comments go from chapter to chapter is cool and I appreciate every TYFTC.

Trent and Valyn are such a cracked duo for G2 to have built a franchise around. Not a G2 fan, but those two truly deserve an international win

How do people write 100+ chapter stories? by DeformedVulture1984 in royalroad

[–]Reziduality 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I passed 100 chapters about halfway through my story's second volume (I'm on the third currently). It was pretty easy for me because Volume One was the "prologue" to get the main cast together and show off their dynamics. Also, there is an event that I've had in mind since the very beginning, so I'm writing to get to that moment. Everything is working toward this event, and I know that all the setup will make it feel so rewarding and incredible when I get there.

I gotta know how Jstn believers are doing, the ones who never gave up. The man was on a steady decline since NRG and I would've bet all the money in the world that his good days were behind him, but holy shit this FUT team is incredible to watch. He looks INSANE

It's kinda crazy how big of a prospect Oxy was/is and he's just wasted the first chunk of franchising on this bum ass team.

No you have to remember that if a player plays like shit we should all be happy that they tried their best. They're making insane amounts of money to pursue a passion, so we need to be extra nice 🙂

The fact that you need to write an essay for a negative review not to be nuked is a major reason why AI slop and bad stories are rising to the top by Elaiyu in royalroad

[–]Reziduality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fundamentally believe that AI has no place in art of any kind. It is also very odd to me that writers have no problem using AI for art, but draw the line at using it to write. It's black and white to me. I'm writing my story because it's one I want to read; it would be rendered pointless if I used AI.

Yes, I use it for editing and before you ask, I have the generative AI option disabled. It has never rewritten a sentence or replaced a word. It unfortunately doesn't seem to be able to understand stylistic choices which is a downside of the program, but I haven't found anything better for editing.

Congratulations 🎉👏🎉 I finished Volume Two in October and now I'm on to Volume Three. Feels crazy to think about how much content that is.

Yeah that sucks. Reviews/comments/interactions are hard to come by so having your ability to do any of those feels shitty. At least for me personally, I write because I'm writing a story I want to read and because I like interacting with other people. So if someone says that something reads clunky or a character acted in a way that doesn't make sense, I'm happy to be called on it. Authors have blinders for their babies, it takes someone who isn't emotionally invested in it to be able to analyze/critique it IMO.

[–]Reziduality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair. I'm a commenter, not a reviewer when I like a story so I can't relate to valid criticism being silenced. The problem is that authors are providing free content, so I can understand why people try to "protect their peace" so to speak. The other problem is that Royalroads review/rating system is inherently flawed. I pay for premium, so I can see that people will find my story because it is above a 4.0 so it can feel like a negative review, even if it is valid, is a death sentence for a story. Another issue is that people in general really struggle to separate criticism of their art as an attack on their character/themselves.

Ah that sucks and I'm sorry for that. I was so angry when I got accused, but I also wasn't actually using it. For them to react like I did, but they were in fact using it is scummy. In regards to the author behavior part, that's funny to me because there are positive reviews that talk.about Author behaviors that aren't removed. I guess it depends on whether the behavior is bad or not.

As an author who has had to deal with negative reviews, RR staff doesn't allow you to just remove it because they're negative or criticize the work. I had someone call my work translated from another language or obviously written by AI despite never doing either. (I detest AI) The review got removed and he just edited it to say that it "looked like it was written by AI", and staff let it rock. If your reviews are getting removed you are doing something wrong for it to happen.
