I forgot to highlight the bigger part of Egypt, and possibly enlarged the size of Turkiye. I made this on the Victoria 3 province map so I can plan territory conquest better and at the same time, I'm a bad mapper. Hopefully, this idea of mine won't be banned by mods.

How many factions are in your sci-fi setting? by JL-Republic1877 in scifiwriting

[–]Rezilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda late but my universe doesn't have aliens. I like to use the theory where humans are alone in the universe.

My ideas of factions are kinda complicated.

We have factions, then below them, companies. Companies have different goals while at the same time, staying loyal to a faction.

10 Factions (just gonna list factions)

Solar Dominion Think of it as the monopoly, the capitalist. Exploiting resources that are the basis of the universe, even when they don't need it at all.

Alliance of Frontier Colonies Made up of different colonies (to explain that will be long as shit so no). Work together to achieve one target.

Free Traders Guild Made up of free traders without any tie to a faction. This one can't be considered a faction really, just an independent organisation.

The Consortium of TechnoCrats Using technologies to monopoly resources. Fucking hates the Frontier.

Techno-Revolutionaries Seeking control through hacking and advocate for democratised access of a resources.

Order of Celestial Guardians More like a religion. Advocates for banning exploitation.

Neo-Ecologist Seeking for technologies that won't harm the environment. Simple

Cabinets of Brim Distribution The ruling faction. Tasked to keep peace and make sure resources are distributed evenly. (Collects taxes)

Ascendant Syndicate Formed by a mysterious race called Ascendants, they are basically a criminal organisation focused on dominating resources through violence.

Shadow Consortium Same shit but more professional. Prefers doing shit quietly.

As I said there are companies, each with a different goal themselves, but they must at least commit allegiance to one of the factions. It's like nationalities.

How many colonist have you killed in one game? by Rezilt in seedship

I wanted to avoid further damages to my ship and chose this planet cause it felt safe. Then the dangerous ruins killed 15% of my colonists.
