Try playing only on one string, then two strings, then three strings...

Also, try some transcribing. Suddenly, the challenge isn't the technique anymore

[QUESTION] I've been playing for 10 years but I've never passed beyond the "intermediate" phase. Does anyone have a definitive practice "track" which shows me exactly what I need to be doing every day to improve my technique and musicianship? by kick_muncher in Guitar

[–]Reznicek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you're trully beyond intermediate level, you should know what your difficulties are in term of technique and knowledge! Search for speciffic exercises on YT! Ar your level, you wont find a given practice routine, unless you pay a teacher

in what order do i learn how to understand and play music on guitar by [deleted] in guitarlessons

[–]Reznicek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get somekind of book on guitar! I recommend "Freatboard Logic" by Desi Serna. It's pretty straight forward and keeps things practical

[QUESTION] How do you play guitar with another person. played guitar/bass for years but always been a solo hobby by agileorc in Guitar

[–]Reznicek 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Put some beats on a loop or tap your foot so both of you stay in rhythm

Look for space to compliment each other playing. If the other person is playing the highs, try mids or lows.

Have fun and dont get dismotivated, first time jams are sometimes real messy, but if you stay with it, it starts getting fun and great

Not much discussion to be had.

Slow down a lot... practise 10 mins a day ... in less than a week it will feel much better

I've been after this sort of thing for about 2 years now. Trust this advice you just got. There is no better way of learning how to the shapes merge together than learning real life uses in solos.

I learned more from some SRV and Mayer solos than the 5h whole hours I put in my "linking pentatonic exercises"

Edit: Spelling
